2012 tving OSL

Game 5
(P)JangBi < Neo Ground Zero > (Z)ZerO

The stage was set. Game 5 of the last PvZ in BW Starleague. The stakes were high, Jangbi trying to achieve his second Starleague championship, and Zero trying to reach his first OSL finals.

Jangbi took game 1, but followed by 2 wins by ZerO. ZerO was on the cusp of his achievement when Jangbi pulled out an insane comeback victory on New Sniper Ridge to force a game 5.

And so began the greatest PvZ ever.

Jangbi and ZerO threw as many strats as they could at each other over the span of half an hour. Kim Carrier even shed tears, having been gifted with an already epic series between two greats of the scene, and also realizing this was possibly the last BW PvZ Starleague match ever.

Revisit the moment as soon as the GG went down: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=350009&currentpage=78

hard to say. i want to say that is he had minimized the damage from those last dt attacks, he may have been in a better position to tech switch. but the way that whole game went anything could have happened.

It was a tense and emotional end to a great series, but to be honest, in terms of the quality of Starcraft, Zero played VERY badly. Stockpiling so much money, bleeding units left and right, nonexistent micro, choosing to turtle up when ahead (I guess he wanted to assure his victory given that it was the deciding game and what had happened in game 4), getting completely thrown off his game by DTs. Zero was probably my favourite player in BW and the game was really painful to watch.

The game that immediately comes to my mind when I think of "greatest PvZ ever" though is Savior vs Nal_Ra on Peaks, although it would probably look a lot worse if I saw it again. There's also JD vs Bisu on Blue Storm, which wasn't as tense as Zero vs Jangbi, but my mind was blown since I think it was the first time we'd seen the 5 hatch scourge build.

Yeah, I was so bitter when Zero lost game 4 and then this one. He was my favorite player too and I super wanted him to win the last OSL (even though he would've been a big underdog vs. Fantasy).

You'll never see an OSL crowd that electric ever again.

Godamnit, it's a shame Jangbi will have to wait another year before another chance at the Golden Mouse

Greatest PvZ ever? I think that would have to be Stork vs. Gorush from the 2005 Proleague finals. They had some sort of NR20 truce and just split the entire map without any attacks, then spent the next half hour fighting with armies that would make Genghis Khan blush. Devourers, ultras, defilers, queens, carriers, dark archons...with everything on the line. Plus, Stork pulled off an FFE close positions on Requiem. What a guy.

edit: Ra vs. Savior on Peaks is another fine choice. A jaw-dropping game worthy of those two legends.

When I came into this thread I was glad to see that it was JangBi vs ZerO, but to me the best game was definitely game 4. That game 4 instantly made JangBi one of my favorite players.
