Daily Ladder-age #43: DT on DT action

So it's a PvP on Neo Planet S. Nothing much that I worry about, just making probes 'n' pylons, sending out Johnson for some perimeter patrol...


A shady figure...

HURP DURP RAISE THE CHEESE ALARM! CHEESE ALARM!!! I send over some probes (maybe a couple more than necessary) to trap his early probe and kill it AFAP. Nothing's a bigger give away to cheese than to see a probe hiding in my base at 9 supply...


Ruthless agression.

I keep a very close eye on the surrounding low ground and FoW for a while because I'm still afraid that he may be trying to cheese from a different angle, but my enemy transitions into gateways. He's a few probes behind me, and I decide to go for a slightly faster DT shrine than usual by cutting the early stalker. Didn't feel like Mike would need to come in early since if he wasn't continuing to cheese there would be no battles happening.



The following moment, in my eyes, was the biggest mistake I made in the game... Johnson got spotted by a stalker while sneaking about. Following that, I saw the stalker was moving around as if to scout the area.... and....


Dat cancel.

I thought that his stalker would spot my proxy pylon. And so I cancelled it. Turns out that the stalker would have just barely missed it had I not cancelled it... I'm face palming so hard right now. Because I didn't have the proxy my DTs hit way, WAY later than they could have. If only I didn't cancel it the pylon wouldn't have been spotted and it would have made my attack look like blitzkrieg compared to what actually happened.
As for my opponent, he transitions into DTs. Because ya know, if you fail cheesing, go DT.


When behind, dark shrine comes to mind.

Both players' DTs reach the base after cannons complete, so no real damage was done. I felt like I was still ahead (which I kinda was) so I decide to also go for an expansion.


Sad dts are sad.

Now here's my second huge mistake of the game; I don't get detection fast enough at my natural expansion. HAD I MADE DETECTION I WOULD HAVE BEEN SO FAR AHEAD!!! But no. The idiot within me decided to try to get cannons after it was too late.

The mid/end game basically was series of attacks by my enemy which widdled me down and eventually made me lose. While I had an economic advantage he almost always had an edge over me in army count. I won't go into much detail as to what happened between each battle, but I'll give some brief overviews of the battles.

The first big attack, I was slightly lower in army supply but I probably could have done a lot better if I had morphed DTs into archons before hand. I suffer larget losses than him, but snipe his observers and manage to skeet my way through and survive.



The second battle comes out a little bit more favorable for me. I kept making probes, which I probably shouldn't have, but my economy was quite a good deal larger than his. I try to go into voidray tech, and once again my DTs manage to keep me alive for a little longer.



While I don't lose yet, his attack continues and killed off my expansion. I'm mined out of my main, and this basically starves me until he comes in for the final blow.



Pretty bummed out at this loss, and now that I've looked back at it I'm extremely confident that I could have easily been able to win that game if I made some slightly better decisions.
