It's more intuitive to play starcraft with the primary and secondary buttons switched. Discuss!

Pro:
Ok, let's envision a general on the battlefield commanding his army solely via finger gestures. Simple move commands are issued by pointing the pointer finger at the location towards which the army should advance. This seems like the most plausible, intuitive thing. It would look goofy for him to issue a simple move command using his middle finger instead.

Con:
Can't argue with that, actually I can, you can't make that comparison because generals are not mute, they can scream orders, but even if they were they'd have signs, flags, trumpets or something to signal commands in a more effective manner, therefore your point is refuted. But for the sake of argument what about selecting the units. How is the selection of a unit or a group of units more intuitively, plausibly represented by using the middle finger instead of the index finger in this scenario? It is not.

Pro:
Index finger or pointer finger. It's in the name. The language even. I can't point the units, the squadron, the battalion, the control group. I can however point them towards a location or enemy. Therefore selecting has nothing to do with pointing towards something and should be done with the middle finger instead. This scenario that I'm going to stick to because it's a valid, under the circumstances fitting means to illustrate my points is imperfect yes, but under no circumstances irrelevant

Starcraft is an imperfect, artistic representation of a war and its interface and control mechanisms are improvised to fit the hardware that is in general use for predominantly other things.
Arguing that the connection to the scenario that I gave is irrelevant, that finger gestures have nothing to do with issuing commands, claiming to have refuted my point because of practical inadequacy of the scenario that I gave to justify my arguments is a halfhearted way of acting dumb. Your point is refuted.

Con:
Fine. My turn. Attack-move or essentially any command including building something is basically pointing towards a location: patrol from where you are to here. Build this here. Attack up to here. How can you justify these commands being issued with the middle finger? Gotcha.

Pro:
Easily. Attack up to a specific location = fuck it up! Thus, middle finger.

And technically it should be move-attack, not attack-move (the latter just sounds better and got stuck but this command, similar to patrol implies 'move somewhere and if you encounter enemies attack them', vice-versa it doesn't make sense to attack when there is no enemy in sight yet); so if moving, i.e. being appointed a location to move to, and rallying is irrefutably legitimately assigned to the index/pointer finger it makes natural sense to have the next command being assigned to the next finger which is the middle finger. And obviously most inhabitants of this planet aren't going to count from 1 to 5 extending their fingers starting with their pinkie and thereby ..

Con:
Yeah yeah yeah

Pro:
I'm not finished. While executing the gesture only the middle finger is used instead of index first and then middle finger because the 'move' is simply left out for convenience similarly to how some consonants are silent or how whole (pronounced 'hole', just to give a concrete example for this) words are left out where they are unnecessary due to the meaning of the sentence being understood via context in Japanese.

Con:
But ..

Pro:
Dude, let me finish what the flying fuck?!
Personally, as a general in said scenario I'd issue patrol and build commands using my ring-, and little finger respectively for clearer, intuitive differentiation. But the middle finger is the next best thing simply because it's next to them position-wise. The index finger is farther away than the middle finger and is thus a less suitable surrogate.

Con ragequits.

Pro:
hooray!

Attack move is attack move because the command is a type of move in which you attack if you encounter something. More precise commands are issued with the left mouse button because they are more common (or should be). Right clicking is like a shortcut to be used in exceptional circumstances when you can. Also I use my ring finger instead of my middle for right clicking.

Do you really use your index and middle finger to press the mouse buttons?

That's so weird, I've never heard of that. I believe 99,9% of computer users use the middle and ring finger.

Your entire life was a lie.

I believe you are incorrect in this regard. I have never once met someone who uses their middle and ring fingers to use a mouse.

Is it less common to use your index and ring finger? I always thought it best to keep a finger dedicated to the scroll wheel.

I guess this works well if you have small hands, yeah. I use my index and middle fingers for left/right click though.

OP, at first I thought I understood what you meant by "primary and secondary buttons switched" but then skimming your post confused the hell out of me. :D

I chose the title according to what it says in the control panel - mouse settings - buttons tab, the box that you can check to switch primary and secondary buttons. And why it's more intuitive imo to play starcraft like that.
