Here is the planned location. I read laying them east-west was the best for sunlight purposes, but went against that and put it at some dumb angle as shown, so I can get the lawn mower thru.

Being a total woodworking newb, realized I should have checked the straightness of the planks I selected at the store much more thoroughly, as when I laid them flat in my garage, noticed one board was twisted. But it turned out ok since I just stuck that jutting end out into the dirt. After using a flat hoe to dig up the plot (should have bought a pointed hoe) I put the frame into the channels and dug until they were level. Dug up the rest of the weeds/grass inside the box and then went and got a bunch of the cheap mulch the neighborhood had excess of as the bottom layer.
Went off to Walmart to get some manure and soil. The cheap stuff @ $1.50 a bag! The wife picked a whole bunch of seeds and a few saplings of greens to plant. We have a bunch of excess yogurt containers to germinate them. So far 2 little guys have sprouted in our living room. I was hoping to grow an avocado tree and some asparagus too, but neither are really suitable for a garden. I remember growing up thinking I could plant watermelon seeds and lychee seeds in the backyard hoping they would grow. Hopefully I can at least get some tomatoes this summer. Or cross pollinate some peppers with jalapeño and end up with a spicy broccoli.
Overall Material List: (Cost ~$150)
