So this is a mini rant I've been wanting to get off my chest for a while. I'm a pretty cosmopolitan listener when it comes to music, I like a lot of different stuff and I enjoy the odd bit of dubstep, but it's getting to the point where I'm no longer able to stream esports events because there is just nonstop dubstep or similarly grating/tension/dissonance centered music everywhere these days. The LoL LCS music is almost entirely dubstep, as is the current MLG playlist. And now game music is catching up, the HoTS soundtrack is clearly influenced by the same style, so you don't even get relief in game.
I enjoy the dubstep feel, it's a very dramatic and powerful one, but it's best when it happens in isolation, in excess it just begins to give me a headache. Is anyone else getting this? I just wish there would occasionally be some smoother or more ambient music (even just some gentler pop or what have you) cycled into these esports playlists. I'm sick of getting my eardrums torqued every time there's a show break.

I've always been a fan of noise/dissonance and harsh sounds, so it doesn't bother me. There is something "filler" feeling about it that does always give me a headache, where GSL's use of actual albums seems to avoid that issue.

I see where you are coming from, and I do get tired of the constant dubstep and electronic music sometimes. I do really prefer it to the terrible choice in music the GSL selects though, it is like half 80s rock and half bad pop punk semi screamo stuff - I'd take the dubstep any day.

I personally cannot stand the wubwubwubuwbuwub so I mute the stream when there's dubstep. However some people do like it and I don't think it's really a big deal (as long as I can mute it!)

Part of my dislike of dubstep comes from the over saturation. It's f'n everywhere.
Although the track playing right now (9:14 PST) is not dubstep. Maybe it's just the midday stuff.

If you watch TLS the soundtrack is almost all Two Steps from Hell or other orchestral/"epic" pieces.
