Sweden was neutral during WW2 but still refused to cooperate with Nazi Germany because they were occupying Norway. Cooperation only begun once France capitulated and the brittish troops left Norway, at which point Norway was boned anyway. Many people are under the incorrect assumption that Sweden allowed Nazi soldiers to use Swedish railways to attack Norway before Germany had established control, which is untrue. The Norwegian government was already in exile when the train transports were approved.

Truth is, you could increase our military budget by 100% and it wouldn't matter in the non-likely scenario of an open war with Russia. Should just focus on making sure that no war involving Russia happens, and if it does, we stay out of it. Spend the money on something else. Which again, isn't the point. The idea is to join Nato so that if a country, for example Russia, attacked Sweden, they would be attacking Nato, which is far more powerful than a Sweden with doubled military budget. Obviously, you can't join Nato with a crap military though, which is where the argument leads to. If we join Nato, we will have the backing to be secure, but we will also be forced to raise our military budget substantially, which the majority of Swedish citizens disagree with.

Obviously, you can't join Nato with a crap military though Plenty of smaller states part of NATO with that *crap* military. ![]() This is an interesting "war game" scenario. Would be interesting to read a report on such a scenario. Also, Norway could sell you guys some missiles and stuff to fight the russians. You know that we always profit from wars ![]()

Military doctrine of Russia. Russia's 2010 military doctrine defines itself as strictly defensive + "Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in response to the use of nuclear and other types of weapons of mass destruction against it or its allies, and also in case of aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons when the very existence of the state is threatened." "Dead Hand (nuclear war)" - it can automatically trigger the launch of the Russian Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) if a nuclear strike is detected by seismic, light, radioactivity and overpressure sensors". You want it? ... Need to live in peace!!!!
