So I just recently purchased the Collectors Edition from Amazon.com (hopefully new), and thought to myself... am I really paying $140 for a set of glowing wings and tiny usb drive? Even though abosultely zero of my college friends and WoW buddies still log on. Even though realized lately, I spend more time reading forums and making stupid posts than actually playing the game. The answer is: Yep. I'm that vain.
Out of curiosity if Polls will work on this blog and if people will actually read this:
Poll: What D3 Edition do you play withNormal Digital Edition (16) 44% Normal Boxed (10) 28% Collector Edition Boxed (5) 14% WoW Annual Pass (5) 14% 36 total votes Your vote: What D3 Edition do you play with (Vote): Normal Boxed (Vote): Collector Edition Boxed (Vote): Normal Digital Edition (Vote): WoW Annual Pass
I personally started off with the WoW Annual Pass, got my license revoked for not paying for the Annual Pass, bought a Digital Edition using Blizzard Balance from D3 to get my license back after a day of debating ( I caved in after I told myself I still had enough value in the gear I had to make up the $60 a few times over, and it all worked out ok: I'm up a few $k from Diablo 3). Even back then I knew I was already pretty dang bored of D3 and felt the gameplay was a huge disappointment from what it could have been. But still have hope it will be great someday after an expansion or two. Which brought me to the point of buying the D3 CE... after a windfall of some recent ill-gotten paypal funds from a profitable pre-patch flipping ;o)
Back in WoW, I was one of the suckers who bought a $10 Celestial Mount when they first announced it and have regretted it ever since, but realized I just did the exact same thing with the Collector's Edition for D3. In the end? Because of the RMAH, it is still completely justified and hopefully all Blizzard games in the future will have that option.
Poll: Would you pay for vanity items? No (27) 82% Yes (6) 18% 33 total votes Your vote: Would you pay for vanity items? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
I'm kind of surprised there aren't any Blizz Store in-game items yet.
edit: iphone spelling bad.

I own the collector's edition and I turn on my wings every time I go in game. :D I only paid $100 for the CE (pre-ordered), but I did pay $160 USD for SC2 WoL CE... I haven't even redeemed the code yet, but I'm happy that I have the fancy box sitting in my room.

I've bought CEs for games I've put a lot of time into. Only part of it is vanity, the rest is the other physical stuff I got from it (artbooks and whatnot) + feeling happy supporting a game a bit more.

Yea I own some ATVI and their dividend is plenty to pay for my relatively cheap gaming habits but its more the principle of what I'm willing to pay for. I picked up the deluxe SC2:HotS with Blizz Balance just to see if id like the wings.
I used to value art books and stuff a lot more, god knows how many #2s I've taken reading the old Warcraft 1 / Diablo 1 manual (it had a lot of lore/art!!) back in highschool :-)

I really miss the old manuals.

Got with the annual pass because I thought I would be playing WoW for the entire panda expansion. Quit WoW (still paying) and I've made about $100 in D3 total. I wouldn't pay for any vanity items just because I don't enjoy the gameplay all that much. I play every now and then and always with friends, more as a medium through which we can just talk and mindlessly play something. I don't see myself actually paying for an expansion in the future just because the game just doesn't grab me.

Bought CE, as I enjoy the extra content and want to support games that I like. Also did the same for HotS.
Would not pay for vanity items, although I do always toggle the wings on when I play Diablo. :p

Collectors edition D3 was a waste of money for me.

i bought the CE and i'm loving it. Nice white colour, artbook and the best is the BluRay-quality material. Nice Making Of too. I didn't even watch the entire thing yet XD

Well I played WoW for around 8 years, and always regretted not getting the CE for a pet panda if that says anything. Can't say I think I will play D3 for that long, but I expect at least 2 expansions, each with it's own collector's edition too I'm sure.
