+ Show Spoiler + Protip: Cecil is actually a longtime contributor of many valuable and interesting threads, from his programming help thread to his high-level advice in the sc2 strategy section. Calling him a liar is actually pretty silly if you are aware of his history here.

Edit: Perhaps I came across too aggressive. I didn't like the endless prick-tease in the last thread and the line "and you thought it was another DreaM)XeRO - mind-blown" part rubbed me the wrong way because he hasn't provided any evidence at all other than a name that doesn't match up and a few comments like the Blizz certification that don't make sense. If it all turns out to be true - or he's been had - I'll send him an apology ![]()

Other than that all I can think of to prove it is to post a picture of him. But that'd be pretty awkward to ask of him. Maybe later in the year when I know him better.

Also your "Stabbed a Man" chico story sounds like crap as well. You're big on attention and drama but low on content. I hope you get caught out one day. Mind blown indeed. I believe him. I think the reasons why his responses seem a bit off is because its hard to talk for someone else which hes doing and especially for someone whose English is not their first language. If you think about it, he has really no reason to lie to us. He just wanted to share it because it is pretty cool to know someone who used to be part of the pro korean bw scene. His eagerness to share might come across as attention seeking but I think its just because hes excited to share it. I also believe that the guy hes working with is telling the truth. Again no reason to make up a complete lie with someone you're working with. I don't know about the complete truth but its hard to really confirm his story because he wasn't really a notable player. He also played during the time when things weren't as documented as well as they are now. Best bet to really know is some really old school player who remembers him.

They're also not so incredibly vague. And language barriers notwithstanding, people don't get completely different words like 'Blizzard' and 'Kespa' mixed up when talking about progaming licences. That's not how talking to a Korean or anyone with english as a second language works. Basically someone is full of shit. If it's not Cecil it's clearly this Korean. The boasting, the bragging. Why would someone lie? For the same reasons people always do. In this case to make themselves seem more important than they are. Even if he's friend is a good sc player that still doesn't proves he played for Khan/CJ. I could see plenty of good sc players pretending they were some baller semi-pro/b-teamer. He can give an exact name, we can see a picture. Or I guess he can go and play a top foreigner now and destroy him. Anyway less is just bad hearsay. You're right about the badly documented stuff. That's what makes the lie (if it is one) so good - because it's really hard to disprove and the vagueness isn't so noticeable. If he said he was playing a year ago and then got the gender of the manager of a team wrong and also didn't exist in the tl database it'd be obvious.
