What happened to the SC2 community? I've recently started playing SC2 again after a long (more than a year?) stint of playing League of Legends. For a number of reasons, I've decided to go from 100% League 0% Starcraft, to something like a 50/50 split. But I thing that has bothered me is the trash talk I'm getting.

League has this terrible reputation of having one of the worst communities for an online game. I guess that makes sense since it is a free-to-play game and any old scum can pick it up at their will. But something I had always prided myself on as a Starcraft player was that we had the image of a more mature community. Of course, I've always had my share of run ins with people who shit talk, insult my friends, etc on Starcraft but I don't remember it ever being this bad - I got it every game I played today.

Am I just remembering things differently? Stuck with this fantasy image due to my elitism with this game? Or has the community gotten more and more toxic over time. Am I just having a bad day? Oh well.

it happens, you sometimes get streaks of various mannered people, in your case they were bad.

The first two statements aren't that bad are they? Not saying I would be fine with saying them, but if I received them it seems like very mild trash talk where they're angry at the imbalance of the game rather than you personally. At least those people aren't swearing at you or making personal attacks. Game 3 is definitely a good example though

I do wonder though, whether as time passes the increasingly "hardcore" will remain. And since competitive spirit is so high (and the game so challenging and demanding) for SC2, the stress level may get to people and generally make them increasingly jaded and negative over time (like a tired old man). Would probably have to play a lot of games to test this.

Pretty much there are times when people are nice or mean. Sc2 is the most mannered community, but that extends only as far as the competitive community does, since that is where the GG thing comes from. Also, I thought that the reason people gg all the time is because of the original KeSPA manner rule that said that all pros must gg to signify the end of a game, at least I heard that on the forums here so don't quote me on that. Also if I'm wrong on that someone be sure to correct it

You and Dashh were some of the most actively BM (not good BM, but active) people I've ever met in my life on East. ON EAST. Now you're writing a blog because you're upset that some random low level player shot some BM at you? There will always be loudmouth fucks no matter what game you go to, most that will refer to another game when trying to compensate for no skill in the present one. Get over it.

1. The last time I played on East I was probably something like 12. It was my first online game and obviously Dash wasn't the best role model for me. But what did I know at the time. Obviously I've changed in the long that it's been since then.
2. I don't ever remember playing vs you and I don't know why you're upset over something you're telling me isn't a big deal. (Not to mention this happened years ago)

If I was being cheesy, I didn't know it. It was mostly PvZ (my offrace, not vs my on-race). I did some +1 zealot with stargate build. Is that cheesy? Lol. Or am I just supposed to let it go to the 40+ minute BLinfestor army without thought.
