Please help me decide on my next phone. I'm currently using the Sony Xperia Arc, and I've been very happy with it. I will likely continue with an Android base OS, but let me know your thoughts; pros, cons, and experience with specific devices is all very much appreciated!
Note: Nexus 4 is not included due to not being available in Canada currently

New Lumia is supposed to be good, the only thing wrong with the old one was battery issues and they have fixed that. Pretty sure that should go into contention?
I have the S3 though and it is sick and pretty and does everything. But the S4 drops in Q1 next year (supposidly) so it is debatable if you want to wait for that instead though.

None of them, my answer is Nokia Lumia 920.
The company has gone through a lot of crap, and it's products have ben sub-par... until now. The phone is more durable than almost any smartphone out there. There are videos of throwing it 15 feet to the air, banging it with a hammer, trying to scratch the surface with a knife etc, to no avail. It has the new windows 8 system, which from what I hear, is quite good. The camera in it is the best that is out on the market without a question. The picture quality is probably better in general, but the floating lens will actually make it possible to have decent videotaping quality too, without much blurring like in iPhone.
The downside is that it weighs like 50 grams more than many other smartphones. The second downside, and most technology magazines would agree, is the lack of 'apps'. However, if you don't feel like you need a fart-app etc, you probably aren't missing out on anything.
I would at least advise to find out more about it. It's more durable, and has way fewer problems than the iPhone for example. The camera is probably the best in the market. One downside is that it's sold out on nearly every country, and I don't know how long it would take to get one.

I would seriously consider a windows 8 phone. Not because it will own android and iOS, but simply because it's so easy to ignore windows phones just because they haven't made a big splash yet, but I think there's a lot of potential in it. Go to a store, try it out.
I voted Galaxy SIII though, I own one and it makes iPhone look like trash to be honest.

A friend of mine has the Nokia Lumia 720, and it's pretty cool. I don't know how it compares to the 920, but it's very user friendly. Their app-store is inferior to both Google and Apple though. In this day and age, you shouldn't have to pay for angry birds.
I would recommend either waiting for the Nexus 4, or going for the Galaxy S III (or even waiting for the IV). I have the original galaxy S, and if they've found a way to improve on that design, I'm impressed.

Thanks for your responses guys, much appreciated! I will take a little more time and check out the new nokia/w8 platform. Cheers

The one that is the most expensive and has the most bells and whistles. Also if possible, a strong but not over-saturated brand.
I know nothing about phones (._.

the one with the angriest birds

Out of these, I'd choose the GS3. If given the option, I would vote Galaxy Note 2 however (maybe because I'm a sucker for big screens) :D
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus after upgrading from an iPhone, it's brought many new features to me such as built-in indepth battery usage monitoring, free tethering from your dataplan (!), and a better camera I've had it for about a year and I'm satisfied with it. Samsung didn't disappoint, and I'll definitely go back to their phones in the future after I've had my time with Nexus 4 (sorry about canada :C).

For me, there is nothing better than the note 2. Its hard to believe i stuck it out with iPhone for so long (had a 4s before). At the same time though, i think that android didnt really come into its own until at least 4.0 and it didn't really gain the smoothness of IOS until 4.1+ .
I really feel like now is the time to switch to an android phone though, just as IOS is starting to feel rather dated (sure each iteration is evolutionary with its features but its had the same user interface since its first iteration) whereas with android the user interface can be anything you want it to be, whether that be through choosing phones with different UI's by the manufacturers (IE Samsung touchwiz nature UX) or custom launchers from the Google play store (as well as custom icons, custom backgrounds, screen transitions etc the possibilities are endless) or even custom OS's from rooting your phone and flashing roms.
I've gone to android and i don't think I will ever go back, even just nice quality of life features that you wouldnt even think of like smart stay, so that the phone knows when your looking at it so that you dont have to keep tapping it to keep the phone on (and so many others) or the fact that a few other members of my family got samsung phones this holiday as well, and now with features like buddy photo share, it automatically shares all the pictures we take if we are at the same family event so that i dont have to ask for them later they are already on my phone as soon as they are taken. Or autotag with facial recognition so that if i take a picture of my friends it already knows its them and will send the photo to them automatically. I could go on forever but i wont. Its just all incredibly convenient though.
