snively United States1159 Posts November 06 2012 22:36 GMT #1 I made masters 1v1 today. I started sc2 in bronze league, christmas day 2010. I've gone from bronze to masters in less than two years. I spent more than half that time in diamond, and for a while I had been afraid that I had hit my plateau, that I wouldn't ever get better. But I guess I was just getting better at a slower rate than before. I never really worked too hard on improving. I only rarely watch my own replays, and I don't watch tutorials or how-to guides or anything. I've always watched the pros and tried to emulate them, though, and I guess it's to them that I owe my success. Even in bronze league, I would try to do what I had seen in pro games. I would try to use their builds and their unit compositions, and I would try to do their micro tricks (with disasterous results, of course). But I kept getting faster and faster, and I know that my game sense gets better every time I play. I love starcraft and everything about it, and I'm happy that my dedication has finally paid off. I feel like I've reached the top of a mountain, and I can look back and see how far I've come. Next stop: GM

Think about it: To reach Diamond, you need to make the top 20% of a community that includes every SC2 player who ladders. To reach Masters, you need to make the top 10% of a community where nearly everyone shows some level of competence. (Diamond+ leagues) Diamond -> Master seems harder than Bronze -> Diamond, when you look at it. Congrats on your accomplishment!
