Well, here I am. I have been a metalhead since I was 17 including long curly hair and most of the time quite a big beard. Now that I am almost 28 I got this ever growing bald spot on top of my head. First I didn't even really notice until one of my colleagues pointed it out to me, then more and more comments of this kind came to my ear. So, yesterday, I cut off my hair and since I'm not the halfway kind of guy i shaved it. First with an electric shaver then with a wet razor. It feels so wierd. 10 years with long hair and now none at all. My colleagues were kind of suprised but most of them say it fits my style. But their is one benefit: My headset now fits better and doesn't fall off all the time and I am not dripping for so long after showering so thats good i guess.
I take this occasion to try and change some things in my life. I will start working out again(mostly free weight lifting) and i'll try to get some cardio in their aswell. I am a heavy smoker(about 30-40 a day depending how longIi am awake and what my workload is) so this point may be hard but its absolutely necessary. I weigh in at about 115kg(about 250lbs) at a height of 185cm(6'1) so I got a lot to work off.
Also I will change my diet. I'm a halfway decent cook but most of the time their is just to much fat in my meals so I will cut back on that. More vegetables and fruits will find their way to my plate too. Maybe I will start a small series with this, documenting my progress in training and maybe some photos of the meals I cook(I currently live with 4 roommates so don't wonder if the portions look kinda big).
Thats it for now, I guess i just post this to motivate myself a bit more and stick to my plans. Let's see how it turns out. (If their is interest I can post pictures of the shaving and some before/after stuff) The reason: + Show Spoiler +

I feel for you man. I was in the same situation a couple years ago. My hair started falling out when I was just graduating school and during university I had to let it go T_T As a metalhead I was pretty depressed actually but the shower thing is a real bonus.

Yeah, I'm kinda sad that they are gone but i didn't want to look like so many of my colleagues with a big bald spot. I allways thought of my hair as part of my lifestyle but i don't think that that will change. I'm gonna miss headbanging though because headbanging with short/no hair looks ridiculous imo.

My sincere condolences. I don't know how I would handle the loss of my mane. It's nature's cruel game: Full hair till you're an old man or a solid beard growth (+ Xtra body hair). You have chosen your side, my genetics went the other way But don't worry! From a metalhead's perspective you can still look like a respectable man with short / no hair and a magnificent beard.
In all seriousness though, good thing you're striving for a healthier life style. Change is hard if you cultivated bad habits over the years, but it's very rewarding. I'm just somewhere on that road myself. You look like someone who can build up a good bunch of muscles with regular training so go for it Good luck and enjoy your time. I'd be happy to read another part of your blog some day to see how you fare.
