In Defense of Youth: Mistakes

Hey TL, this is going to be a more philosophical blog, but thats because I'm in a philosophical mood today . People typically try to damn the youth for various reasons, and I think its very wrong. These essays will be my personal philosophy/explanation as to why I believe that way. It's a shorter blog because I'm very tired, and I put out a blog this week earlier so I don't want to bore you guys with too much of me .

Making Mistakesare good for you

Making mistakes is the single most important part of youth. In fact, I could say that it is the only part of youth that actually matters. This is four several reasons, none more important the next:
  • They force learning about the outside world
  • They force introspection

mistakes force each and everyone one of us to learn, and this is especially important from a young age. We become who we are not by succeeding, but rather by failing epicly like everyone else.

Learning about the outside world, might seem counterintuitive, but I promise, it's not. When we fail, we get taught a lesson by someone we can't scream at. Life is a teacher that hits pretty hard, so we have to recoil just as hard. Life smacks us around, and in turn we have to role with some of that. The outside comes home sometimes, and when it does we leave a little bit of ourselves there. The world teaches everyone tough lessons, lessons that teach life's most important lessons. That is to say that sometimes the outside world does not allow us to live in a delusional bubble.

what you mean he's not MLG pro?

Sometimes mistakes smack us around, we search for reasons why we messed up, we rationalize, sometimes we blame others, but we rarely blame ourselves. That is the beauty of screwing up in youth, you can blame yourself, learn, and then become a better person for it. I've learned that many times, you can fuck up, have a terrible week, but you will still grow. You can fuck up with other people, you can fuck up friendships, or you can fuck up royally with a job, but you will always be forced move on; you have to move on, you are in the spring of youth.

We all know it sucks, to wake up and feel like shit. To feel like you fucked up so hard you are confused why your dog anyone still loves you. You are forced to see what inside of you is good. Introspection. What a person cannot see exists, what is on the inside sometimes grows obfuscated by the beauty of the easily visible. Sometimes we die, not because we are actually dead, but because we lose sight of what is truly worth living for. Fucking up in part of it (thanks to Nony for that one, its out of his sig ). People become short sighted, they don't see the amount they have sometimes, but thats sad every time. Life is much more than a liek dis if u cri ever tim meme, life is about fucking up, as a kid, like you go to the doctor, early and often before life really matters.
Just ask IdrA

The best part of youth is introspection, not because you will learn anything about yourself all the time, but rather because you will learn what you don't know. You will learn what you want to know in time. From youth on, we are damned by time to grow, we make mistakes so we can grow at a pace that suits us. Some people grow fast, make few mistakes, and can cope with the world well, these people are a small minority. When we mess up, when we learn how to win, we need to make mistakes to get to that point. More GG more skill.

Well.. yeah. But as we've seen many adults think and behave as overgrown children. Mistakes themselves do not refined people make. There are missing ingredients: intelligence, reinforcement, opportunity, etc. And even in the face of all these, some people still never learn.

Uh when I am an adult I am pretty sure I will be making mistakes then too.

Hen I make a mistake in sc2 I say a simple haha then gg out. I could have won but made a mistake that cost me the game. I am just glad I made that mistake in practice and not when it actually mattered.

As an adult youre mistakes seem to have bigger consequences because they affect more people along with yourself. My parenta certainly made many mistakes in raising me. I am just glad I was able to get my shit together and that I turn out for better or for worse

One of my childhood memories was being "disciplined" by a yardstick. You know why my mom switched to a yardstick? Because she didnt feel like she was spanking me hard enough with a ruler

I don't think that what happened to SoR would make for a good blog, and it's probably too personal for him to share...

docvoc, I like your blog, and it's always been something I've strived for, but you're really not saying that much new with it. I suppose I'm not part of the targeted audience for the blog, though.
Can it be I stayed away too long? Did you miss these rhymes while I was gone?

are mistakes what makes you learn?

or is it the punishment that comes with it?

secondary question:

if you keep on making a "mistake" but it never has a punishment, is it still really a mistake?

1. I don't think punishment is necessary, I think the fact that it is very human to want to NOT make mistakes along with the natural punishments that making mistakes brings leave lasting impressions. Though the punishment that comes with it does also leave an effect, I think we remember the mistake more than the punishment in the long run.
2.I think it is, a mistake is something you do that leads to life being suboptimal, not life being bad. I.E. if you chose the wrong major, yeah changing requires breaking a lot of red tape and time wasted, but you aren't punished for choosing a different major later on.
