I've broken previous iPhone 3G quite recently and used old brick Nokia 3310 waiting for iPhone5 release to choose beetwen iOS and Droid phones more carefuly.

Unfortunately in my oppinion Apple is no longer in a lead. 5th iPhone is rather same or even previous step comparing to SGS2 or HTCOneX).

As 4s has too small screen for me and 5 makes no sence to buy I'm thinking on Samsung Galaxy S III or HTC One X.

Still there are some pionts about Google I don't personaly like and use iCloud because of that:
Google contacts are limited to 3 different entries per contact (3 phones, 3 addresses etc) with "work home other" bookmarks only. Still because of my work I have contacts with up to 10 phones. Making 3-4 contacts of a same person is not an option unfortunately. Work/Home/Other is also an issue as some entries are like "US number / Russia Sochi / Russia Moscow" and like these. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
Also contact sync is very poor at least on Mac laptops - contact images (photoes) disappears all of a sudden, and some other minor bugs.
Calendar is a bit less comfortable comparing to iCloud.

So I have two questions which TL netizens will surely have an expirience to clarify <3
1. Can I sync to iCloud instead of Google contacts/calendar etc. from an Android device? (special programme in Google Play if so required is acceptable)
2. If not, can sync contacts with more than 3 entries of same nature? (like 5 phone numbers and 4 adresses)

And last but not less,
Help me to choose:
a) SGS3
b) HTC One X
c) something...
(price tag is secondary)

Very sorry for my poor English, but still... You can't speak Russian can you? :D
Thanks!! ^^

I would probably get the sgs3 myself. That being said I love android, but iphone 5 is pretty awesome. I'm a huge stickler for battery life and it's ridiculous how good it is on the iphone 5. I liked the iphone 4, but iphone 5 really got me excited. The only thing is I would much rather be using android than ios.

There's a lot of good phones out there now. I think it depends on what styles you like and features you want so it's going to be different for everyone.

My mom recently bought a SGS3. I like it except it just feels too thin and the battery life sucks.

What? I've been using the galaxy s3 for about a two months now and the battery life is pretty good. I can get through about a day and a half before my phone dies with moderate use. You're probably a noob and keep GPS/bluetooth enabled all day err day with max brightness constantly disconnecting from wifi/network and never close your apps or free memory.

With proper use the phone has great battery life.

OP, I'd definitely go with the S3. It's a great phone.

Don't remember how it used to work, but it's definitely not true anymore. Go to contacts.google.com, that's where all your contacts are stored and, if you choose to, where your phone pulls its contacts from and syncs them to. You can have pretty much as many emails/numbers are you want and it supports custom labels. If you spend some time organizing your contacts, it's a really phenomenal system.

Tip: Make a new group called "Phone" or something like that. Put all the contacts that you want to show up on your phone in that list. Then in the "People" app on your Android, go to "..."->Contacts to display->Customize->Uncheck everything except Phone. People often complain about email contacts showing up on their phone when they don't want them to, and that's the easy way to handle that.

Contact syncing works great for me through the contacts.google.com page. If you want high-resolution pictures though, the key is to add the pictures to the contacts on your phone. That way, they'll stay high res, at least on Jelly Bean. I've heard that there are resolution issues if you add contact photos through the browser site, but I'm not sure. I know the SIII is currently in the middle of the Jelly Bean rollout, and hopefully the One X will get it soon.

That sounds crazy to me, I absolutely love Google Calendar. Being able to set up multiple calendars, add shared calendars, etc. is great. Though I've admittedly never used iCloud's calendar.

Either of those is a great phone that I think you'd be very happy with. Some other options:

Wait a month or two to see if a new Nexus device is announced. The rumors are flying pretty thick that a new LG Nexus is going to be announced in the next month or so. Nexus devices will generally have slightly less powerful hardware, but the fact that they get direct-from-Google stock Android updates usually means that their software is a couple steps above any other phone.

You also might want to consider the Note II if you're into absolutely massive screens and ridiculous hardware specs. That 5.5 inch screen is no joke, I've heard great things about their Wacom-powered stylus integration, it's the only phone with true side-by-side muti-tasking, and it has the biggest battery you can find in a phone (I think only the RAZR MAXX's battery even competes with the Note II's). Just don't get it if you don't have large pockets.

I suppose it was always great if you used Androide all the time.

But still, for iOS / Mac OS X users - calendar sync limitation is one for account; contact sync limitation is three entries per contact

Let me explain.
Here you can see only one calendar is shown in Mac OS X Calendar 6.0
calendar.google.com - there are two
You may suppose more than one is not supported by the programme? - iCloud works fine.

[image loading]Contacts are not that good also unfortunately
Also all contacts lost these small face logo (photo)
Also Push is not working. Not so important as 1-min autoupdate is fine.

I agree. It is so easy to get a lot of battery life out of an android phone. Some other things that help are installing custom roms. I went to cyanogenmod on my sgs2 and immediately had double the battery life, and better performance.

Look up the specs. The battery is tiny (I believe its only 2400mWh, albeit this is off the top of my head).

SGS3 might have pretty meh battery life unless you root it, but it's an amazing phone in any other respect. Highly recommend it.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I've been using macs for the last ~6 years, and I'm currently syncing 5 calendars and just created a test contact with 6 phone numbers.

The problem is that you're trying to connect Apple services to Google ones. Go native google. Use Google Calendar and Google Contacts and you'll be fine.

SGS3.
And about battery life - just root it and install a custom tweaked ROM. Then the battery will probably last you more than 24 hours.
Use it or lose it

Dude, you just mean using online google contacts and google calendar and not using mac os apps, right?

S3 ftw, and the open source community is there to support it with custom roms to serve whatever purpose you could possibly imagine.

I'm not too sure about the HTC One X, but I have an HTC One S and from what I've seen from my friend's phones, they are very similar. The screen is huge and the camera is really really nice. Not sure about the battery life, but if its anything like my phone (or any other phones, not too sure because I've only had this one before lol) it can last a long time provided it is always in service area. I haven't tried Samsung phones before, but I've also heard good things about it. Both seem like excellent choices ^^
