What I say here may not make very much sense, but I need people to know what they've done by just being there. I'm just a kid from Michigan, and I'm probably spoiled compared to what some people here have gone through, but just know that I'm grateful.
Starcraft II is now two years old. To all those who made this game a wonderful experience, I thank you. To those who continue to contribute to the community and make this place safe, fun, and exciting, you are amazing, and have my eternal gratitude.
These last few years have been, for me, rather trying. I've moved three separate times, leaving all I've ever known behind. I lived with an emotionally and physically abusive parent up until a month ago, and I have to say, this community has been my rock.
Until last month, I had been nearly constantly locked in a room for 18 hours a day, let out only to go to school. Through that time, it was hard to be happy about much. I became so detached from anything real that, for a time, I didn't realize I wasn't even making facial expressions when I talked.
The only things I could get excited about were Starcraft related. MLG this weekend, sweet! Gotta make sure to sneak my sister's iPod out to watch it. New SotG? Amazing! Something to listen to and grasp ahold of for the next long while. News on the KESPA players? Hell yes!
I was never into the Broodwar scene, I only got into Starcraft in early 2010, but I knew what those people meant to the community, and I was excited to get the chance to experience that hype.
Whenever I got the chance to use a computer, I hopped on Team Liquid immediately. It was a source of comfort, and I knowing that there was a place that knew nothing about me but kept on trucking was something I needed. Something to fantasize about, and pretend I wasn't where I was.
For the people who run, contribute, and read this forum, thank you so much. You will never know what it means for you, and this game, to be around. I will never, ever forget anything about this game, this community, the pros, the people, and everything that makes this eSports phenomenon what is is.
Happy Birthday Starcraft II. Cheers, and know that you will live on forever in our hearts.

You are very welcome.
Why were you locked in your room? That sounds like abuse.

I don't think you should consider yourself spoiled. Sure there might be somethings you have better than others, but you've probably been through a lot worse than the majority of people here. Props for being humble and still seeing the light side of things. The fact that you're thankful for things is the opposite of spoiled.

This. The fact that you are actually thankful for something makes you a better person than most of the people I know, and I can tell you they are spoiled out the ass.

TL is the place where I found my identity and finished the emotional maturation that occurs during adolescence. It's no "save my sanity from my abusive parent" kind of deal, but I'm definitely grateful. The identity crisis is not very fun. Also, it showed me the wonders of SC2, and consequently, a new and much, much better lifestyle. I'm having a lot more fun now doing the stuff I am than I would be if I was doing the stuff I used to do. So, yeah. Thanks to TL too.
