This is not a post for getting feedback, you can post it if you want but I just wanted to share this with you because I am really proud as I got a 6 on it (which would translate to an A for the people who have that system). Please do not bash my school for giving me a good grade on it, maybe it was harder for you because "my teachers were stricter" or "when I was young...". I respect that, but please do not "go" there. You may call it a "brag post" if you want, but I really don't care that much about it

There are minor mistakes, but this was written when I was 14 years old so cut me some slack

The Hunger Games (Fiction)
I am Katniss Everdeen, and the last 24 hours, I have been on the run. After I failed in fetching the bow and arrows that just lay there, waiting for me to pick it up, I grabbed a backpack with supplies and ran off, I had no time to feel sorry for the boy that got killed trying to snatch the backpack that saved my life, from me. After I had been running as far as I felt necessary, I slowed down and started to jog. After many hours of non-stop jogging and running trough the vegetated forest, I finally decided to have a rest and see what kind of supplies that were to be found in the backpack. I found some food, a sleeping bag and a bottle, exactly that kind of bottles used to store water, but it was empty. I felt sleepy and climbed up into a tree and fell asleep. When I woke up I could smell smoke, so I immediately unfastened the belt that had been used to keep me from falling down the tree that I slept in. I found a pool of water, but not before my leg had been burned from a fireball. I fell asleep on the edge of the pool. I woke up to the sound of feet. I immediately got up and splashed across the pool. As my persuers, the Careers, hunted me trough the forest I found a huge tree, in which i climbed. When i was six metres up, they reached the base of my sanctuary...
I stopped for a moment, looking down on them and saw they would show me no mercy. I started climbing higher, thinking if I can get high enough, and they were stupid enough to follow me, I could just kick them down and they would fall to their death. One of them started climbing, but the others saw trough my plan and stayed on the ground planning. The boy was an expert climber, he almost cought up with me. I saw him closing in on me, I timed my kick, this had to be on the spot, in his head, or he would certanly catch up and kill me. I kicked. I didn't even know if I had hit him, but as i dared to look down I saw him hanging over a thick branch just a couple of metres below me. I sat there for a while, listening to the other Careers arguing and shouting at eachother down there.
Finally, i could get some rest. I leaned back against the hard bark of the tree and relaxed a little. I knew I couldn't stay here for long as I figured it would only be a matter of time before they found out they could just burn the tree down. As I lay there thinking about my next move, I heard a noise right behind me, I quickly got out of my relaxed state of mind and litteraly jumped onehundred and eighty degrees to see what the noise was. I was shocked as I saw a knife protruding from the bark where my neck had been just a couple of seconds ago. The instant I was frozen from the shock of my near-death experience, a girl jumped out from the leaves that she had been hiding behind, and tried to slash my throat open with another small knife she had in her hand. I managed to avoid the knife just barely, and I threw my backpack at her, even though it wasn't quite heavy, it hit her in the face and got her off balance. Before she could regain her balance and lounge at me again, I kicked the backpack, where one of the straps had managed to slip onto her neck, sending her flying towards her own knife that still stood in the bark. I heard something snap, and I knew she couldn't do anything, because the handle-end of the knife had shattered her spinal column.
She moved her head dizzily around when I retrieved my backpack from her now helpless body. Before I pushed her down from the branch I took her weapons from her, and I watched her smash down on the other branches before hitting the ground and instantly dying.
I could see the bewildered look in the other Careers faces as their friend came crashing down just behind them. I heard them talking about lighting the tree on fire, and they started searching their pockets for matches. I quickly realized the only person that had matches was me, as I had taken them from their fallen friend. As I looked down on them I noticed something on the long forgotten boy, still hanging form one of the lower branches. He had a bow and quiver on his back. I smacked my palm against my face for not noticing that earlier. As I started to climb down to retrieve the bow, I noticed they had absolutely no weapons that kill from a distance, they had only swords and knives. They could try to hit me with a well aimed knife throw, but there was way too much leaves and small branches in the way to actually do any damage to me. Whereas I could sit comfortably in my tree, picking them off one at a time with my new soulmate, the bow. When I fired the first arrow, they hadn't even noticed I that I had retrieved the bow, and my first shot landed right in the girls neck. She fell over on the ground writhing in pain. I in a way actully enjoyed this, killing some brat that most likely had planned to kill me in an extremely painful way by the look of her weapon, a really nasty looking butcher's hook with teeth pointing away
from the tip. As she fell, her two remainiing friends froze for a moment, which gave me an opportunity to shoot another arrow, which hit a boy right between his shoulderblades. The last one ran off before I could shoot again. I still didn't dare to fall asleep or go down to the ground, in fear of the last Career. I decided to wait for daylight, but I caught myself falling asleep a number of times. When I woke up I immediately gave my self a mental slap for falling asleep, but it didn't matter anyway, because I was still alive and well. I grabbed my backpack and climbed down, I immediately scavenged the
corpses from the night before, and found some melee weapons and food. I had absolutely no idea of how many people still remained in the games, but I figured atleast some of them died in the fire. I still had one problem though, I did not know where the boy from last night were. For all I knew he could be right behind the rocks over there, and stab me just as I passed by. So I was still by no means safe, even after all those Careers I killed. Suddenly something got thrown out from some bushes. I got suspicious and started slowly backing away. The ball exploded. But it didn't create a blast, it created a
flash of blinding light and a deafening noise. I couldn't see or hear anything, but I felt hands lift me and carry me away, then something hit me in the head and everything went black. I woke up in a hard and uncomfortable bed, my weapons were stripped from me and there was a man outside a door with bars. I didn't even have enough energy to ask him what was going on, and just went to sleep. I was abruptly woken from my deep slumber by the man outside my cell. He just told me to follow him. We walked for what seemed like hours and finally we reached what looked like an armory of sorts. There were all kinds of weapons and armour you could think of, and the guard told me to get ready for a fight.
I had no idea of what was going on. But I did as I was told, and grabbed some thick leather armor, a bow and quiver and a small sword. The guard escorted me up a flight of stairs, and suddenly, in beaming sunlight I was inside a building that reminded me of an old building called; The Colloseum.
I suddenly understood what this was all about, I was going to fight the last of the careers. The manager of the games had told me that if only one Career and one tribute was left alive, they would duel in this arena to the cheers of millions of people, and make the games even more interesting, as you could watch it for real, instead of on a TV. The boy that escaped from me was already standing out there, in the pit, reciving cheers. The guard pushed me out into the pit and the crowd started booing for their lives.
A voice boomed over everyone saying “LET THE GAMES...BEGIN!”
The boy suddenly started leaping towards me, I stood there and pulled out my bow. It was quite a long distance from him to me, and I didn't intend to tire myself unnecessarely. I pulled out an arrow, tugged the string backwards and held my breath, aiming carefully for his head. I let go. The arrow was flying towards him, but just as it was about to reach him, he leaped to the left, wanting to avoid the arrow. I thought he succeded, and pulled out my small sword, but as he was about to make a devastating blow towards my chest, I dodged it and saw that the arrown had created a rift in his shoulder the size of a high voltage electrical wire. As his blow missed, it sent him tumbling off balance, I ran towards him and drove the sword between his rib cage into his lungs. He lay on the ground coughing blood and swearing at me.
The audience went silent before they started chanting louder and louder; kill, Kill,KILL! The booming voice said “The crowd has spoken Katniss, FINISH HIM!”
I don't know why I did it. Probably because I knew the crowd wanted brutality, I fetched an arrow from my quiver, walked towards him and jammed it up from beneath his jaw. The crowd went absolutely wild. Screaming in primal joy like
they were nothing more than animals. And maybe that was the case. At school when I learned about history, I had drawn one conclusion. Humans only get more and more savage as time goes on. As I was having these thoughts, I found myself urging the crowd on when they started chanting; katniss, Katniss, KATNISS! And I loved it. I felt the wild spirit of this place and I knew I was completely lost in it, there was no turning back.
