Welp, room replacement isn't answering

dabom88 United States3483 Posts June 02 2012 01:57 GMT #1 Okay I got a replacement for my room. I haven't signed off the lease yet. I got 120 dollars in cash from him for the security deposit. However, rent is due in a few days and I can't get into contact with him. He hasn't paid rent yet and I can't get in contact with him. The latest the rent can get paid is Monday. I have enough in savings to cover for him, but how long should I wait until I try and find a replacement? Anyone know the laws on this (I live in San Diego)? There was a verbal agreement, he gave me his security deposit in cash to ensure that he would be moving in. But he isn't answering phone calls, texts, or emails. I've only been trying since today. Sorry if this blog post is short, there really isn't much to say.
