My Stock Portfolio

This is going to be a stock checkbook to me testing out stock-market theories and the observations and results that go on from a week-to-week basis. I am doing this via AOL Stocks "My Potfolio" application that allows someone to buy stocks with virtual money and exchange them on the stock market for their current worth, in essence it is a virtual stock market.

Either way, I will record numbers here of my gains/losses and fluctuations in the market and patterns that I see.

Can you share how you got to where you are right now with your portfolio? I think that's the most interesting thing for us readers.

Sure

FSLR 16.54$ - have not researched more yet, just a pre-emptive buy to keep track of their stock while I do further research, so in essence is a test subject.

SYY Sysco is one of the biggest suppliers of food in the industry right now. about 4/7 of my stock portfolio is in this stock because of its divdends. It has a 1.06$ divdend right now. A divdend is something like an incentive for the investor where at the end of each quarter (4 per year), they will pay out 1.06$ per stock. That is why 4/7 of my stock is in divdends because no matter what, they will pay out each quarter I have them no matter how bad their stock gets. The only logical reason for businesses to give out large divdends is to make it a win for the stock holder, something to keep them happy until the stock rises and they gain money because of that. Because of this they can only really lower the divdend value until their stock increases in an amount that is significant to the likes of the investor.

INTC Intel is a major player in the electronic industry. Most notably, their desktop and laptop processors. As the average internet user becomes smarter, I think they are going to realize that intel outpreforms amd cost to cost and even though intel processors on average only have 4 cores compared to the 6-8 with amd, it does not mean that having more cores is nesecarily faster. So 1/7 of my portfolio is to intel because as smartphones become even more popular than they are today which includes growing popularity in developed and the underdeveloped countries (apple itouch and the iphone growing phenomenon in eastern asia countries such as vietnam, china, indonesia, and thailand) and not only smartphones, but as internet becomes more widely accessible to developing countries around the world, the tools that are used to to access the internet, mainly smartphones, desktop computers, and laptops will be made with intel processors, and worst case scenario intel and amd split the market, but the industry itself is growing/continue to grow in the future.

NRG NRG Energy is a forbes 500 company in the solar power industry. They provide electricity through solar energy and install solar panel roofing. In addition, their project Agua Caliente which is based in Texas just started in late April. This is an electric car outlet-system around the South West area of the United States of America. They are basically eletcic-gas stations that recharge electric cars. The only reason NRG's stock is so low right now is because their quarter earnings were completed at the beginning of May. Even though people sold this stock, I am picking this up at a steal low price because I believe it is going to increase as their Agua Caliente project moves forward. It is basically the first major green project in the world apart from ones in the Middle-East. Given the growing popularity of it in the middle-east, I believe the same will happen for the model here in America as well so this is definitly a future investment for me

Link isn't functioning properly for me, it seems that i can only view my own portfolio. Checking if it's just me? Btw, are you long on all these positions?

I just learned of the website today and immediately made a portfolio. I guess only I can look at my own portfolio
