EPTWhen hit platinum, I hit my skill plateau (for the moment anyways). I seemed to lose most of my games against plat players but I could usually beat top 10 golds. That pattern continued and I found myself becoming afraid to lose. I didn't want to fall back down into the depths of gold league. By mid season 4, I pretty much quit sc2, returning only to play (or cheese) my placement matches whenever a new season started.
I ventured into the league of legends for the next little while. I leveled up to 30 with a bunch of my friends. We played competitively amoungst ourselves for a long time, but we never got into ranked that much. I played 10 ranked solo que games, finishing them with a 7-3 record and having a 1350 ELO. After that, I found myself in a familiar spot. I was at a plateau where I couldn't feel myself improving anymore. Win a normal, lose a normal, over and over again. Just like my laddering days in sc2.
League of legends grew too repetitive for me. I always enjoyed the larger skill cap in sc2, and I found it easier to find and fix my mistakes. I decide that i wanted to prove to myself that i could overcome my ladder anxiety. It had gotten the better of me before, but it wont be able to a second time.
Over the last couple of days I've started to ladder up again. Ive been focusing about not caring about losing, and just trying to commit to constant improvement. I'm beginning to shake off the rust on my platinum ( doesn't plat even rust?) and work my way up the ladder, one game at a time.
