So, everybody in my family has it, and I've been trying to not get it for a while. Unfortunately, it is kind of hard to avoid since I'm in contact with it daily (carpet, shower, etc). However, I have a feeling that I've gotten it already, and there are no symptoms at the moment since my immune system is super strong (I eat food off the floor every day, work out daily, and eat super healthy). However, I can definitely feel a little bit of itching, and the skin on my feet keeps peeling off (new skin underneath, not raw flesh). Is there any possible diagnosis or recommendation about what to do?

Depending on how it looks, skin peeling off can be quite normal. After walking barefoot on a rough surface I can sometimes peel off pieces of skin from my feet later, but it doesn't smell or look unhealthy, just old skin falling off.

If you're seriously worried, go see your family doctor and he'll probably give you some sort of cream for prevention just to make sure.

I would honestly just wash my feet after physical activity and keep them dry.

If you've got it, you'll know... major bumps and itchiness. Fortunately, it's easily cured with an antifungal cream. (Have your family members been to see the doctor?)

Soak your feet in apple vinegar to get rid of Athlete's foot fungus, smells bad, but it works for me.

Lotrimin Ultra or Lamisil at your local pharmacy should do the trick.

The fungus that causes athlete's foot can live pretty much anywhere there is moisture, so the best thing you can do is thoroughly dry your feet and prevent the spread of the fungus by wearing socks or flip flops to and from the shower (if you are afraid it is on the bathroom floor).

The fungus is really contagious, but it also dies very easily to most common household cleaners. Scrubbing the places you think might be infected with some cleaner every couple of days (including washing bath towels etc.) will help prevent reinfection, but the best cure is the anti-fungal creams from the store.

As far as diagnosis goes you don't really need to consult a doctor for athlete's foot unless you develop some type of severe reaction like a ring like rash called ringworm which can be caused by the same fungus anywhere on the body, but don't worry it's not a worm. Areas of raw or whitish skin can also develop (particularly between your toes) that you might also want to visit a doctor for.

Most cases of athlete's foot are mild and can be taken care of without the need to see a doctor. Just keep clean and dry, good luck.

It's not hard to heal at all. I had it when I was younger and I just had to put some cream on my feet whenever I took a shower ( so everyday) and it healed pretty fast. Not hard to heal at all so take comfort in that

Well funnily enough I have a friend who is a podiatrist and she reckons that windex actually kills tinea (the actual name of the fungi) better than any foot cream or powder she's tried.

I used to have the same problem. What I did is buy my own personal shower mat to step on, and always walk around the house in slippers or socks, never barefoot. Besides the creams and ointments, soaking your feet in Epsom Salt (aka, magnesium sulfate) helps a lot too.

Uh, I dumpster dive for food at school. Sometimes, I get too lazy to put my food on a plate, so I just throw it in the microwave and then I scrape it off the microwave surface and eat it. When my friends drop food on the ground and won't eat it, I do. Yeah, so almost every day involves me eating food from a questionably sanitary source.
