Hey guys, long time no see.
I haven't been able to cast as much as I'd want but I begun doing so (and playing a lot again)... But now that I have a lot of spare time and can do it, I'll go back into casting matches and providing commentary and analysis. But I've been wondering... Should I keep on casting in spanish or go for casting in english only? I mean, I had this little audience of about 200-300 people who would watch my VODs but as a caster you always want to have more audience to be a little better known... So I was thinking of casting in english, due to the obvious advantage of more people that will watch you, and the vast array of co-commentators available.
But I don't really want to disappoint my audience...
I don't know what to do.

What would you guys do in my shoes? Why would you do it?
I really wanna get better at this, and the only way I will improve is by casting a lot and watching a lot of games. But should I keep casting in spanish or move to cast in english only?

Thank you for your feedback.

You should at least try casting in English, but don't forget about those who have always followed you. Maybe cast one out of every five matches in Spanish or something.

Unfortunately, if you want to be an actual caster at big tournaments you should stick to english only. Recently Khaldor switched to english only and he just casted IPL 4. If you have a connection to those spanish fans though, you can always do two versions, one in English and one in Spanish.

Oh wow I hadnt realized I havent heard a Khaldor german cast in forever. Not that I listened to them anyway (me no German etc etc) but still.

OP, if you feel you can be good enough to cast to the same audience as everyone else and still have a following, go for it. ^_^

Khlador's German casts are superior to his English ones, but sadly English is the way to go if you want a larger audience.

I do wish that large tournaments had casters in many languages. Imagine IPL with Korean, English, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Russian casters. You'd only need 1 stream (korean/english) and the others are just dubbed over. I imagine it'd be very simple to keep the in-game sounds and special effects, while swapping the casters.

I'm sure the international audience is accustomed to english casts, just as the brood war audience is accustomed to korean casts, but i'm sure most would prefer to hear a cast in their native language.

I'd honestly do 1/2 and 1/2. Keeps both sides happy- opens your borders, but provides some quality spanish casting.

Something that I'd suggest doing is talking to people at major tournaments and seeing if they would let you run a sister stream off of their main (like IronSquid, IEM, etc do) and cast in your language of choice.

You started out in Spanish and learned the basics of casting by casting. It's easier in your native language, but to reach a certain public you need to cast in English. I think it's a good step forward to try casting in English

It's simple: Go 50/50, see what your viewers like more and what you feel comfortable with. Casting in a language that you don't use all too often (in terms of actually speaking in english) is very challenging, even if you have a good vocabulary, so you might even not like it at all.

Don't give up on spanish completely.

Khaldor used to be my first choice for german casts but when he left for GSL I started watching Mori more often.
Mori casts only in german (at least i haven't seen him cast in english yet) and I suppose that a lot of german sc2 fans that have trouble with understanding english casts support him and are glad that there is someone casting sc2 in german.

There is nothing wrong with you trying to enter the "english caster scene" but don't forget that there might me spanish speaking people that have trouble with listening to english casts or simply enjoy listening to casts in their mother tongue

The English casting scene is saturated. As the other markets grow and the old boy's club realize growth will have to come from alternative markets, you want to be the best caster of your language to make it proper.
Thank God and gunrun.

Already on it. I have a couple offers to analyze/co-commentate some live matches in Chile and I also did commentary for SC2LA.com's Xel'Naga Tour last year recieving very good feedback about my casting/analysis.
Still, I think english is the blastoff every caster needs.

I might do the "4 english - 1 spanish" approach, I kinda liked that idea. I'm on a 24 hrs ER shift today so I won't be able to record anything, but tomorrow I'll begin on it and might throw in a couple videos here to look for feedback.

Thanks a lot guys, you're all so helpful with your comments. And also very pretty <3
