I often get people calling me, then telling me they're from Bell canada or something and tell me that they'll have a machine call me, give me a number and that I should give them the number the machine gave me... Which is funny because the recorded message with the number clearly says that a Bell Canada employee will never ask for that number.

I had a similar experience with a guy who was calling from "The Microsoft Security Center" and that I had a virus on my PC. Due to the fact that there are like 10pcs in my house, I was instantly suspicious... I played along with the guy for about 30 seconds until he told me to go to some website (I forget the name) and download something... at this point I said "Ok guy, I've got a good antivirus, and youre clearly running some scam, so plz dont call me again with your shit". And the guy FLIPPED OUT. He went on saying stuff like (and I'm not exaggerating at all) "You little fucker, who the fuck do you think you are calling this a scam! I'm gonna come to your house and kill you!" I was laughing about it, telling the guy to calm down, and that his supervisor probly wouldnt appreciate him trying to kill me, but he kept throwing his death-threats at me, and eventually hung up. After I called the cops (this guy was clearly insane) and some officers from the communications department came by and took a statement. Anyways, thats my story about probly the same guys the op is talking about, I'd say judging by that, this is all a big scam and can easily be ignored =P They get so MAD sometimes, its weird its almost like they believe in it.... Even faced with people who can easily dispute it they will argue that its not a scam rather than just hang up and move onto the next victim...

Well, these guys are scammers, as they do NOT explain what they are doing, and they intrude into your computer, they don't fix anything.

I never get those calls though, would be so fun to mess with them though if I did . I would go into a freak out mode "Wait my computer is infected? What do I do?" and just act like I believed it. Ah how fun that would be
