Hey TL community, I need your help!
For those with experience in this matter, How do you begin a letter of application? I'm pretty much stuck on the first sentence only. Not even the whole first sentence, the first half of the first sentence. I do believe in the whole 'first impressions are important thing' and need a good first sentence.
Some possibles that I've thought of but seem like they suck are:
Dear Mr. Blankster,
I would like to present to you my .....
I am pleased to present to you my....
For your consideration, I would like to present to you......
Yeah I googled this topic but nothing is quite like getting real people's opinions.

EDIT: Fuck the poll. I agree with a lot of you that those 3 lines ^ suck. So none of them are being included (at least not those exact words).
Also, I put the "for your consideration" line at the end of the first paragraph, where I said, "For your consideration, I have included my resume, transcripts, and credentials along with this letter."

The best cover letters start with a simple, straight forward introduction of yourself and why you want to join the establishment + why you think you are a good fit for that establishment. Make sure to be simple and convey that you have a good understanding of the company/store.

Then next paragraph describe your stuff and why you think youre a good fit for the company

Having any boilerplate makes it look like you're churning out these emails off of some shitty template. The template above may be equally shitty, but it doesn't waste the decision-maker(s)' time.

When you list stuff, it's like presenting items for their consideration. You are already presenting it in the document, so there's no need to say that. "For your consideration" is better than "For your consideration, I would like to present to you my" because you are already presenting your X. Obviously there is some context here, "for your consideration, my" might be better than "for your consideration," I'd have to see it to make that judgement.
For your consideration,
-this topic is getting saturated
-WPM is good to have
-hip hop is for the new world
Actually, scratch all of this, It's better to just list your shit. It's already being presented for their consideration by handing them the document.

I typically do:
Dear (contact),
Please accept this (email, document, etc.) as my application to the (job title) position found on (website, newspaper, recruiter, etc).
Everything else goes here.

None of them, don't say that you're going to do something, just do it. Employers don't want to waste time and would rather have it straight to the point. Be articulate and concise, using every sentence wisely. I wouldn't even say "For your consideration" in the beginning (although you may consider closing with it).

Here is the the template that i just used to sumbit my cover letter and attached resume to Toyota manufacturing as an engineer. This gives you an outline for how you should compose a cover letter. Your cover letter should be formal but not over fancified. Hope this helps and hopefully i get the job that I applied for as well, GL to you sir.

use the cover letter template provide by talon. also include your cv

Thanks talon. I saw that as well and I appreciate the help. I guess I was asking how to specifically open the letter. I went with this:
My name is Maximus Starcraft2 and I am writing you today in regards to the 5-12 Instrumental Music position.
It seems straightforward and not overly fancy, like Chill said. I stated a little bit more about myself in the opening and ended with, "For your consideration I have included my resume, transcripts, and credentials along with this letter."
The other couple paragraphs were really easy to write, I was just stuck on an opener.
