DeuceStarcraft Casts #1: ZvT on Nerazim Crypt

Hey everybody!

This TL blog is going to be me casting and analyzing games submitted to me by you wonderful folks out there on the starcraft 2 ladder. Some of you may have heard of me, and most of you most likely have not, but I Cast games from ALL levels (yes, even Bronze level games!) and give a Cast with a written analysis of the game. I used to do this on a blog, but I've since become a staff Member over at SCVRush.com.

For those WhO've Never heard of me typically I structure things like this: Mondays I Cast my games and talk about the things I do right, wrong, and where to improve. On Wednesdays and Fridays I do casts submitted to me from YOU . So if you'd like to see your game featured Here on please send your replays to DeuceSC@gmail.com

Alright! Lets get down to some starcraft 2! I give you my First post a ZvT on Nerazim Crypt between the Zerg, Rondariel, and the Terran, Segallen. ENJoY!

So, now for a bit of analysis!

The Terran player, Segallen

1) Our Terran player, Segallen, pretty much had this game won in the early stages I believe. When he was sieged up OutSide the creep with that sizeable force of marines. A quick couple of Scans could have revealed those tumours and pushed back the creep quite a bit. He should have also poked and proded, rather than waiting around. Allowing a Zerg to macro while you wait OutSide his base is simply folly, especially with a MarinE heavy composition, as this gives the Zerg time to morph in Banelings. So when you have any army in position like that, be a bit aggressive, PuSh back that Creep, and do some damage.

2) The lack of Terran expansions is ultimately What won the Zerg this game. During that First large PuSh that I note above, the Terran could have been building his third and probably fourth command centers and getting them Into position to establish a base. MULEs are Great, but they mine out bases so quickly that having multiple bases is almost a necessity. He also wasn't dropping the MULEs as consistently as I would have liked so his OC energy remained very high (Which could have been used for Scans!!)

3) Just the last thing....WHY YOU EMP BROODLORDS?!

The Zerg Player, Rondariel

1) Our Zerg player took some silly risks I think. He took that third and fourth base for no ReaL ReasoN. Typically I like to take my bases as I'M pushing out to do some damage, when I Kill an army, or when I have a flock of Mutas on the field large enough to retain map Control. Luckily, Segallen wasn't being very aggressive so he was able to get up these bases with little to no problems. The other problem with throwing up a few extra bases is the need to saturate them. Rondariel didn't saturate that third base for a long time, Which means it was just sitting around (albeit, it was a production facility as well).

2) He had a tonne of Infestors on the field Which were utilized quite well, but they could have been used better. He could have use the good old Infested Terran bombs on the SMall packs of Marines to allow the SieGe Tanks to whittle them down before he moved in with his Banelings and Lings. Infestors can be Great harassment tools for a MarinE Tank composition as that Splash damage can be quite detrimental to the MarinE force.

3) What I did like Here was that Rondariel KNEW he was behind due to the position of the Terran army. I would have assumed the same thing "He'S got an army in the middle of the map....he must be taking a third base behind this", so he got his upgrades! Upgrades are a Great Way to get yourself back Into a game when you're behind, and this game showed it. He managed to win the game with 3/3 upgrades on his Lings/Blings/Broodlings.

So guys, What do you think? Did I get it all? Anything I missed? Am I the Batman? Let me know! And as usual, if you play a Sweet game and would like to see it casted please send your replays to DeuceSC@gmail.com!

Ew....just ew... another caster casting league. Oh I'm sorry, I couldn't discern you from the several other more POPULAR casters who are BETTER and more EXPERIENCED casters who cast the same exact things you do. I honestly would much rather see you cast custom maps, and don't go casting nexus wars, there are so many custom maps on the popularity list, and few of them see the light of day, or are ever heard of. I want to see ADVENTURES on the POPULARITY LIST, not another upstart loser casting league. Don't get me wrong, league is fun, but who needs MORE CASTERS doing the SAME thing, I don't and no one else does either, there's a reason this post got like 10 views so far, its not any different. You really wanna make a difference? Cast custom maps, there are some great ones out there, hopefully you'll see that, but right now, your just another nub with a webcam, knowing nothing about events beyond what Blizzard tells you.

Wow. Just wow. There was nothing constructive, helpful, or even remotely nice about this. If you're trying to be a hater, you're doing it right.

At least I'm trying to do something to get people involved in the community, to want to play, and to be excited about the game.

What exactly are you doing? Ya know, other than trying to tear down people for doing something that makes them happy.

EDIT: I LIKE doing this, and if you don't like it, you don't have to watch, but I know a lot of people who appreciate me casting their games ( I didn't exactly start yesterday ). So rather than being an absolute hater, go watch someone you like more. You're part of the reason that people don't try to get involved in the community, because they think people like you will trash them, and beat them down for TRYING. So unless you plan to be part of the community, and be constructive and helpful, then shut the hell up and butt the hell out.

Deuce is a hell of a nerdballer! Lot of great content and people are involved with SCVRush.
Now we are both in the club of "people who caught mice and asked IRC what to do". Mine was caught face first on a glue trap though, but his back legs were free and he was pushing the trap all over my house. I ended up drowning him. - Lemonwalrus

DeuceStarcraft Casts #3: Gold League ZvT on Metalopolis

Hello everybody! I've been asked by the TL mods to keep all my casts under a single thread. So all my casts will be put here from now on rather than in separate posts.

It is Submitted Replay Wednesday for DeuceStarcraft Casts! This is my third cast for the wonderful folks at SCVRush.com and getting towards my 22nd cast overall. Unfortunately, XSplit wasn't working for me today (my audio was cutting in and out) so I had to work with Fraps, so there will be no overlays on todays videos unfortunately, but we can make due

As usual, if you'd like to have your game casted, please send an email with your replay attached to DeuceSC@gmail.com, and let me know what league you are in. I do have a bunch that I want to get through, so it may take a while, but I'll email you back as soon as I do it

Today I bring you a Gold league ZvT on Metalopolis with the Zerg player, Fresco, and his opponent the Terran player, BrokenYew.

The Zerg Player, Fresco

1) I really liked Fresco's map control during the large portion of this game. He always had Overlords in place (looks like someone's been watching dApollo's videos) and always scouted out what his opponent was doing, which was great!

2)The one thing I really didn't like in this game was the lack of Creep Tumours. An early third Queen after your natural expansion goes up is very important for Zerg in the early game. The creep spread allows the Queens to move back and forth from Main to Natural very quickly to defend against things like cloaked Banshees, It also allows the Queens to quickly get to the ramp to block off any Hellion runbys. Had the Terran been a little bit better with his micro, he could have got off a huge amount of damage with those Banshees and the Zerg wouldn't have been able to do a hell of a lot about it due to that lack of creep spread.

3) The macro did slip quite a bit towards the end, but this was a Gold level game and that happens. Keeping macro going while attacking can be difficult, but it's definitely something to work on.

The Terran Player, BrokenYew

1) The general build order for this Terran, I felt was a little odd. Proxy Rax into Bunker rushing the main, into reactored Hellions, into Two-port Banshees felt like only what I can refer to as the "The Terran Three Cheese Build". None of these harassment options really worked out for the Terran. Bunker rushing the Zerg Main is next to useless, really. You don't have enough range to pick off the Hatchery and it's going to get cleaned up rather fast as pulling just 3-4 Drones makes this strategy at the Main null and void. A bunker rush should typically be done at the Natural base to deny it, and perhaps contain the Zerg while taking an expansion of your own...So this was weird in my eyes.

2) Losing those Banshees was absolutely devastating. I believe at one point he had about 6, which is at that critical number to one shot Queens, making them a very viable harassment option. Unfortunately, our Terran player threw them needlessly into a pack of Spore Crawlers and ended up taking a whole bunch of economic loss.

3) Because of all these harassment options he had, BrokenYew unfortunately had very little to move out with. He had a great batallion of Siege Tanks but left them ALL unsieged at the bottom of the Gold base, and lost them Zerglings. He also had next to no Marine support, 2 Banelings were able to clean up the entire force, pretty much losing him the game. Also, a well placed Scanner Sweep would have rid him of those pesky Infestors dropping Beachballs all over his natural.

So guys, what did you think? Did I get everything? Anything I missed? Will Obama get another term? Please comment in the section below, and send your replays (any level! Bronze to Masters!) to DeuceSC@gmail.com

DeuceStarcraft Casts #4: Platnium/Diamond ZvT on Antiga Shipyard
Hello everybody!

This is a game I did for Submitted Replay Friday at SCVRush.com with DeuceStarcraft where I cast games submitted to me by your wonderful folks from the Starcraft 2 Ladder! If you like my content, and would like to see your game casted and analyzed here at SCVRush.com, please drop me an email at DeuceSC@gmail.com with your replay attached!

I hope everybody is enjoying the Winter Assembly today! And will be enjoying the awesome that MLG Winter Arena will be this evening! I know I'll be on my couch watching!

Enough talk! Starcraft 2! Today I'm bringing you a ZvT on Antiga Shipyard with the Zerg played, FLSkurvy, and the Terran played, ColdScars!

The Zerg Player, FLSkurvy

1) Our Zerg player defended that initial Bunker Rush VERY well. I'm not sure I agree with pulling ALL the Drones, but pulling 5-6 Drones with the 6 Lings which were spawned would have been enough, but hey, it worked for him! He also didn't overreact, and only build 6 Lings to help fend it off. His nice defense of this, especially with the Spine Crawler, put him in a nice safe position, and let him ahead economically. The Spine Crawler placement also allowed him to defend the follow up attacks by the Hellions.

2) The Zergs creep spread left a little to be desired, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. This was a 32 (Blizzard) Minute game, and the Creep spread most likely could have been well beyond the middle of the map. The Terran did push back the Creep a bit, but wasn't too aggressive in doing so.

3) The Zergs Army composition was quite good towards the end. Lots of upgraded Ultralisks and Broodlords pretty much ate the Mech army of the Terran player. Having said that, FLSkurvy did tend to throw his Broodlords away quite rapidly to that large Viking ball. Keeping the Broodlords with a group of Infestors or Corruptors is always a great idea, as the Infestors can root or kill the Vikings with Fungal Growth or Infested Terrans.

4) The Zerg player also did a nice job of denying expansions and keeping map control to see when and where these expansions were going up. This denial of economic advantage is essentially what won the Zerg player the game.

The Terran Player, ColdScars
1) The Terran player put on some early pressure, but I felt like the Bunker should have gone down a littttttle bit earlier. The drones were able to deny the Bunkers from going down, but when he had the SCV Patrolling at the entrance, he could have begun building while the Marine was on the way. This would have allowed the Bunker to complete, forcing the Zerg to build more than just the 6 Lings that he did. It was a great play, because the Zerg was fast expanding, but it didn't work out because the Bunkers weren't able to go up.

2) ColdScars could have done a lot of damage had he dropped a few scans, pushed back the Creep spread, and slowly pushed forward with his large Tank force earlier in the game. Instead, he just sat outside the base, and wasn't able to apply any pressure as he was too far away. This probably could have won the game for the Terran player, or at the very least reduced the Zerg army quite significantly.

3) Some Drop play would have also helped here. The Third base wasn't very well defended, so a full Medivac of Marines with Stim could have gotten in there, and done a great job of cleaning this up.

So what do you think? Did I get everything? Anything I miss? Boxers or Briefs? Let me know! And as usual, send your replays to DeuceSC@gmail.com!
