I'm a Masters player, non pro.
At the moment, doing a free coaching project where I'm spending a month with 3 students. 2 days each week 2 hours each session. Each week we work on different subjects, such as mechanics, builds etc. The students are entering the third week and most have made good strides, a couple have jumped from bronze to silver ez pz and doing well there.
The plan is after I'm done with these students to turn this into a payed coaching gig. What would you say an appropriate price would be for a months length.
Include the math of 2 days a week for 2 hours so somewhere around at least 16 hours of coaching per month.
Also not sure if this adds anymore value to it. I am bilingual and fluent in English and Russian. I have 3 accounts. NA, EU, KR

No offense, but there are tons of pros coaching (IMO coaching is a scam but to each their own), so for an average joe masters player, about 10$ MAX.
Also it matters alot where in Masters league you are.

While I do not think coaching is a scam at all, I would agree with the above that like 10$ would be the max. You need to get your name out there more so that people know you are reputable. Even if you just went to an mlg and got 1/2 through the open bracket a few times it would make you much more legit. Also you should talk to gosucoaching and see if you can become a part of their team.

^^I do like that suggestion 'how'.
I haven't competed in any major major tournaments yet, except an intel one Colorado. I am going to be Competing in IPL4 in Vegas.
With the free coaching project, I am live streaming it so I do have live recorded sessions I have held with each student. Hopefully from that I can make a promo video maybe.
Thanks Mega and how for the feedback.

Charge the maximum the market will bear... Why would you charge anything else?

This is the right attitude, but honestly I don't know who would pay for a joe-average AM server Masters players coaching services...

Unless you're top masters people won't pay. There's an abundance of free coaches in masters.

I'd go the other way. Keep it free and do good work with your students. They'll tell their friends, maybe someone will make a thread on TL about it and slowly the word will spread. At that point, when you've shown that you're an excellent coach, you can consider starting to charge. Trying to charge for coaching as a masters player when there's an abundance of free coaches at that level is doomed to failure unless there are enough people that already know you to be a great coach.
As a comparison, I coached a lot of different people for free for several months in the first half of 2011. Towards the end of that period, some people started telling me that they would consider paying me for coaching if I charged a reasonable amount ($10ish), but that was only after I logged in for months to instant messages from several people asking for help.
In any case, if you're in this to earn money, don't bother. Coaching in Sc2 isn't exactly a lucrative business for a random master player.

Personally I would feel really uncomfortable charging people if I weren´t in GM.

you are a cool guy but dont teach them the 3 rax allin plz lol

I agree with the $10/hour valuation. Difficult to justify going higher unless you make a reputation for yourself somehow. (you can start to increase it once more people start coming to you)
some ideas to help you do this:
> make some VODs and use as samples > get a good looking website > testimonies etc > you can try different payment structures, eg pay only $5 upfront, and the rest later etc.
|
Bare minimum. As a lot of people said, there are just too many master players who are willing to give free coaching (like me) so unless you're either a great player or a great teacher, it's just too easy to scare people off. I mean look at mlg ppv, people obviously don't want to spend more on sc than they really need to.

Are you serious. Do you do anytime other than 3rax rin/scv all-in or terrible hellion banshee all-In yet?
Do you actually use hotkeys yet, not just assign then box select everything? Do you build shit by clicking on the icon still?
I feel a little bad being this harsh because I have watched an enjoyed you steam, but seriously you should not be charging for coaching, you are simply no where near good enough at the game.

If you teach them to cheese, don't charge them anything. If you teach them useful starcraft skills, I concur with the $10 suggestions.

Appreciate all the feed back guys

I've been coaching in games for years, since the internet came, I started in the first Warcraft game, I also coached around 50 people or so in WoW, many of them became top Gladiators. In starcraft I must have spent 5000 hours of coaching. 200 of those hours in SC2 maybe.
I felt like such a moron when I recently found out that people charge for this stuff lol. I did it because you get such an awesome feeling of having people really listen and suck in your words, then come at you with compliments when they're owning shit up, the recognition I guess lol.
Don't want to derail your thread, what you reckon someone could get as hourly if you're high masters, top 20, mid season?? (Just so I can play around with the idea in my head lol).

LoL, I remember one time I thought bilingual was the same as bisexual, and recently when I met this girl who edits films she said she was bipolar, and I kept talking as if that just ment she fancied girls as well lol.
