Who will move on to join our two terrans waiting in the semis? The protoss race has had a resurgence all season long. Can StarTale's Parting handle aruguably the best zerg in the world in MVPDongRaeGu? Can SK_MC's PvP be stopped by MVP's Genius? Let's check it out.

Match 1
SK_MC v MVPGenius

Game 1 begins on Dual Sight and shows both players opening standard with 2 gas geysers.
MC gets scouts Genius' base with a probe, and as the probe leaves Genius cancels his 2nd geyser and prepares a 4 gate. MC has 2 gates and a robo after getting out 3 quick stalkers.

The units of Genius hit the front of MC, and MC warps in 2 stalkers in his main as opposed to 2 sentries. As the stalkers warp in MC charges down his ramp not expecting a 4 gate. He is greeted by Genius and his higher stalker count along with a single zealot.
With no sentires Genius easily breaks the ramp of MC. An immortal now pops for MC, but Genius is already in great position with a huge amount of units remaining to only the 3 stalkers of MC. Genius whittles him down and takes game 1.

Game 2 takes place on Cloud Kingdom. Both players again open standard with Genius taking 2 gas and MC staying on 1 until he has 3 gates up. Genius adds a single extra gateway and soon after begins a twilight council as well as a robotics facility. It appears Genius would like to go for a DT drop, but MC puts some pressure on the main ramp of Genius with his stalkers. This forces Genius to cancel his building robotics facility in order to add a 3rd gateway and begin blink research. MC takes an expansion and adds a twilight council of his own, though his blink is slightly behind Genius'.

MC is now up to 5 gates as Genius moves around the map with his units. He comes to the natural of MC and sees MC's superior stalker count; after poking around a bit morehe decides to return home to protect his own upcoming nexus. Genius leads by 7 workers though his expansion time is a bit behind. Genius now re-adds his robotics facility.

MC, with his 5 gateways, moves out onto the map looking to pressure. He places down a proxy pylon at the center right watch tower and begins attacking the rocks of Genius. Genius force fields and MC retreats to go around towards the 3rd location of Genius. The immortal of Genius is out now, however. MC continues to hang around the natural of Genius but neither player commits to attacking. There are some force fields thrown out as Genius traps MC's sentries and gets a couple of kills before forcing a retreat.

Genius is now up to 3 immortals as MC finishes up a Robo of his own at home. Genius adds a forge and additional immortal, while both players then begin robotics support bays. MC begins to produce his own immortals as Genius already has 5 and has begun +1 attacks. Both players begin thermal lance and colossi production with MC adding a 2nd robo.

No real engagements take place, as both players grow their armies. Genius adds a 2nd robo himself after scouting MC's with an observer. MC adds his own forge while keeping ahead in the colossi count. Genius is the first to put down a third base, but MC follows suit soon after. Genius' +2 attack is half complete as MC starts his +1.

A group of stalkers is caught in the center of the map by MC, and he blinks in to take out a couple. This leaves his army in a vulnerable position.
The colossi and zealots of MC are able to save the day with a nice flanking maneuver, however, and Genius' army is forced to pull back. Both players take minimal losses. The immortal count is still in favor of Genius 4-1, but MC leads in colossi 8-6.

MC moves around the center of the map towards the natural of Genius and decides to blink in and start his attack. MC looks to be in great position forcing the units of Genius to engage through a choke. The stalkers of MC then blink onto the high-ground in Genius' main base to snipe some colossi.
MC appears to be ahead in the engagement with the superior colossi numbers, but he does lose all of his stalkers due to the blink into Genius' main base. As a result the immortals of Genius do as their name implies and survive forever. They charge forward and obliterate the colossi count of MC as there are no remaining stalkers to support.
MC tries to retreat with his last colossu, but Genius' army gives chase, and MC is unable to recover with 6 colossi now against 3. Genius takes game 2.

Game 3 opens up on Entombed Valley. MC opens standard with 2 gas, and Genius does the same though he does not mine from his 2nd geyser. He adds 3 more gateways and again prepares to 4 gate. MC places down a stargate, he looks to be in a world of trouble. 2 more gates are added, but the warp gate research finishes for Genius, as he places down his proxy pylon.

Genius warps in at his pylon and the attack begins. MC snipes the probe of Genius so he cannot build any closer pylons; he then retreats up his ramp. With a single sentry he gets off a force field blocking his ramp so Genius cannot engage. MC barely gets a 2nd sentry out in time to continue to hold his ramp.
A third sentry is now warped in and MC looks to have held.

MC now begins production of phoenix from his stargate as Genius adds a robo at home. The robo completes and immortal production begins. MC adds a 4th gate while continuing phoenix production. Genius adds a robo support bay now as he scouts 4 phoenix of MC with a single zealot out on the map. MC does move out on the map but he soon retreats without forcing a fight.

Genius gets a single Colossus to stomp force fields, and he continues warping in stalkers. He also has 2 immortals out. Mc adds a robo of his own as the colossus of Genius is ready. Genius pushes across the map with his colossus, 10 stalkers, 9 zealots, 2 immortals, and 2 sentries; against the 8 stalkers, 7 zealots, 5 phoenix, and 4 sentires of MC. The phoenix of MC dart around the main of Genius in a desperate attempt to get Genius' army to turn around. Genius ignores it and continues on. MC force fields his ramp, but the colossus charges in along with the rest of Genius' army.
MC's condition is dire, and his army is simply out-classed. The phoenix arrive to join the fight, but they offer little help.

Genius 3-0s MC much to the surprise of a lot of people, I'd imagine.

Match 2
MVPDongRaeGu v StarTale_Parting

Game 1 begins on Antiga Shipyard. Parting goes nexus first as DRG opens with a pool into 2 quick hatcheries. Parting gets double gas as his nexus completes. The quick third of DRG is scouted and 2 stargates go up for Parting.

Lair is now on the way for DRG as parting begins +1 attacks along with 2 voidrays. The evo chamber finishes up for DRG and ling speed begins. Parting shows 2 of his voidrays and this triggers DRG to begin producing queens out of both his main and natural hatcheries. His roach warren finishes as spore crawlers and +1 carapace begin.

Lair completes and roach speed starts for DRG while parting begins to produce phoenix to rally them into the impending fight. Spores are up as Parting hits the main of DRG. Queens move in to join the battle, and it is a back-and-forth affair. DRG inches ahead with some nice transfusions and parting has to pull back.
The phoenix of Parting remain and kill whatever queens they can as DRG begins producing roaches and rallying them toward the base of Parting. A squad of 15 roaches makes their way into Parting's base and the counter-attack begins. Parting has 3 cannons up, but DRG is able to do some economic damage before returning home with half of his roaches still alive.

DRG up 40 supply now as he continues to add to his roach force at home. Spire is finished and DRG transitions into mostly zerglings while using his gas for corrupters. 8 corrupters hatch, and the infestation pit is on the way for DRG along with +1 air attacks +2 carapace and burrow. Pathogen glands begin when the infestation pit completes, and DRG moves to hold the center of the map.

A single colossus is out for Parting as well as an immortal to go with his 8 stalkers, 9 phoenix, and 4 sentries. DRG attempts to attack the just finished third of Parting, and Parting's army is forced to come out of his natural and attempt to defend. Parting force fields his 3rd base ramp, but this traps a majority of his own units there; so DRG diverts his attack to the natural.
The corrupters of DRG hold the army of Parting back as his other forces ravage the natural. Parting's army finally joins the fight after the corrupters are killed, but DRG pushes his attack into the main. He kills a decent amount of units, though he loses his entire attacking force. In the background mutalisk production begins, as the phoenix count has dwindled to 4.

The game stabilizes for a moment with both players sitting in their respective bases. Parting's 3rd gets up and running, and the probes return to his natural. DRG researches +1 melee attacks while continuing mutas and morphing a greater spire at the 16:30 mark.

A 4th and 5th base are taken by DRG. Parting scouts the mutas and resumes phoenix production out of both of his stargates. He also starts a twilight council. The 4th location of DRG, in the bottom-left main base is scouted and forced to cancel. The zealot force is quickly cleaned up and the base retaken. Parting adds a 2nd twilight council, which is clearly a mistake.

The greater spire of DRG finishes up and 5 broodlords transform immidiately. +2 melee attacks begin for DRG as he takes the center of the map. Parting continues colossi production and DRG adds infestors and 2 more broods.

Parting's phoenix fly into the center and an air battle ensues. Both players trade muta and phoenix pretty evenly. As the air battle continues Parting's main army moves to attack the center. The 2 broodlords complete as the army of Parting arrives. The main battle begins and the broodlings coupled with the zerglings of DRG swarm everything. The mutas are able to keep the phoenix at bay and DRG takes the first game.

Game 2 on Daybreak shows DRG opening pool into hatch, as Parting goes nexus first. A quick 3rd is again taken by DRG, and Parting again scouts it before returning home with his probe. Parting takes 3 gases. Next, he begins +1 and adds a 2nd gateway while producing sentries. DRG takes 3 gas at 7 minutes. 2 more gateways go down for Parting, bringing his total to 4, he also adds a twilight council. Hallucination starts for Parting as +1 finishes. He warps in 4 more sentries, bringing his total to 8. He now moves out on the map with only sentries. DRG meanwhile gets his roach warren, a macro hatchery, ling speed, and +1 carapace while his lair is nearly complete.

Parting feigns an attack with his 8 sentries forcing DRG to make a decent amount of units. In the end Parting only hallucinates 2 phoenix and gets scouting information before returning home. In the background he gets up a 3rd nexus, and he walls it in with 4 gateways and 3 cannons. Blink and +2 weapons finish for Parting, and +3 begins soon after. Meanwhile, DRG begins his spire.

A Robo facility goes up now for Parting, as DRG tries to attack the rocks at the natural ramp of Parting. 26 roaches and 50 lings on the field for DRG while Parting only has 8 stalkers and 8 sentries. Parting should be able to force field his natural ramp for eternity, however. DRG removes the rock and instead of attempting an attack he relocates to the 3rd of Parting. He sees the complete wall in and decides to again reroute back to the natural ramp.

The push from DRG comes and Parting is late on his force fields; DRG gets a lot of untis up the ramp.
All of Parting's sentries die, and as the force fields dissipate DRG is able to attack up the ramp. He does grievous damage to the army of Parting, killing all of the sentries and taking out the cybernetics core. The attack continues into the natural as stalkers fall everywhere. Mutas are now on the field for DRG and PArting doesn't look like he can handle them. Parting is down 60 supply with psi storm on the way. DRG continues to produce units as he takes a 4th base. He upgrades +1 air attacks and +2 melee weapons. He continues to harass every base of Parting whittling him down.

+2 air attacks starts at DRG continues his relentless attack. Parting is picked apart as DRG places down a baneling nest and prepares his final attack. Baneling speed starts and finishes, and a huge amount of banelings are warped in the center of the map. DRG attacks and the banelings kill a huge amount of stalkers, forcing the GG.

After going down in that game due to an easily avoidable mistake, Parting looks absolute deflated. He is left with an incredibly tall order now of trying to 3-0 DRG.

Game 3 will be on Crossfire. DRG opens gas, pool. and Parting goes standard with a single gas. DRG starts ling speed and leaves 1 drone in gas as he takes his natural expansion. Parting starts a stargate and adds an additional gateway. DRG gets an evo chamber and starts +1 melee as the first voidray is started by Parting. Parting throws down a nexus and adds a 3rd and 4th gate.
DRG starts his lair as he gets his 3rd and 4th gases.

Parting cancels his nexus and looks to attack with a 4 gate plus 1 voidray. DRG scouts the impending attack and sees that the nexus was cancelled. During the scout his lings are trapped by some zealots and a single sentry where Parting's nexus used to be. DRG puts up 8 spines at his natural with 1 already in place. The spines are nearly complete as the attack his for Parting.
With a lot of his zealots at home dealing with the group of zerglings, the main attack of Parting does not pack the punch it should and for a moment it seems that DRG will easily hold. The zealots and the sentry from the main then make their way into the fray as Parting continually force fields the main ramp of DRG preventing reinforcements from arriving.
Now it appears that Parting has the upper hand. The force fields at the ramp finally subside and DRG's lings hit the battlefield. With their +1 upgrades against the 0-0 zealots of Parting the lings do fantastic damage. The attack is thwarted by DRG.

The game is over, but Parting warps in one more round of units at home. He again pushes and DRG crushes the attack, taking the series.

Team MVP destroys the 2nd day of the quarterfinals with both of their members 3-0ing their opponents. Could we perhaps be seeing teammates face-off in the finals?

I was so shocked by the results of Genius vs MC... I'd always thought MC was some unbeatable pvp specialist who was still a gosu at everything else. Genius just totally dismantled him, it was a beautiful series from the perspective of a protoss player.

I'll be kinda pissed if it goes to Alive+gumiho final. There was so much protoss HOPE, can't wave that in my face and then do another tvt final.
Our Protoss, Who art in Aiur HongUn be Thy name; Thy stalker come, Thy will be blunk, on ladder as it is in Micro Tourny. Give us this win in our daily ladder, and forgive us our cheeses, As we forgive those who play zerg against us.
