I look for several things in games. - Great Storylines. (Eg: Star Wars: The Old Republic + Mass Effect 1 + 2) - Open Ended Gameplay. (Eg: Skyrim, SW:TOR) - Multiplayer (SW:TOR + SC2 + League of Legends) Incase your wondering, SW:TOR actually has really good story telling for an MMO. A very impressive display by Bioware. The games I play need to have at least 1 of those 3 things. I do not hold any FPS in any of those 3 categories however. The storylines are all poor mixes of various crap, they have no open ended gameplay and the multiplayer is horrificly boring. I do play other things apart from the examples given above and I absolutely consider myself a Gamer by any proper standard. While I do spit on the Call of Duty Modern Battlefield Warfare Front Kill Terrorist franchises that are infecting the market, I don't think that gaming is declining. There are more games coming out than there used to be, just some of them are crap. The term "Gamer" is being misused however. Not sure what we can do about that however. A recent example is some girl I met recently, I asked if she was a gamer, her words were "Yea I play farmville and other facebook games sometimes." We aren't friends anymore lol. | ||

I haven't been fortunate enough to play some of the most famous old games, but I have played a few. When I was old enough to actually play games well, these legends had sadly been almost completely replaced by the newer consoles. By your own definition, you are NOT a gamer... | ||
