Hey since this is my blog I'm going to be setting up my schedule for life in Spring semester starting February 1, 2011.

To appropriately set a schedule, one must lay out some goals to set a schedule around. I'd love to hear your comments on the schedule and the goals :D I don't expect this to be exciting, I just like using this blog for myself sometimes :D

Goals

Get straight A's
This is really important to me since I want good grades to get into a decent grad school. I want to get a masters in Biblical Theology and eventually a PhD in theology.

To get to masters league in Starcraft 2
This is a big one for me. I would like to get to a skill level where I could go to an open LAN event like an MLG and participate and not just be taking the spot away from someone who has the potential to win a match or two. I just want to be able to go and they be like "well at least the kids masters" lol. I don't want to go pro or anything, but I'd like to significantly improve my skills.

Perform in a bodybuilding show
This is a goal I have wanted to do for a really long time. Two years ago, in April, I was 300 lbs (not the good kind either lol). I found a good friend who was really into fitness and got me into "the drive." Last May I was at a much leaner 220 lbs and dropping. I had the dream of competing at 192 lb weight class. However, summer got to me and I became lazy and now I am 255 lbs again. I need to get my ass back in the gym (and I have been) and start eating right. I want to look good for spring break and eventually look good for a contest in the late summer or early fall.

Now to the schedule
I am going to attempt to go hour by hour, but obviously everything is going to be open to variance and being "flexible."

Monday, Wednesday, Friday
7:00 AM: Wake
7:30: Cardio for 30 minutes
8:00: Breakfast
8:30: Shower/Get ready
9:10 - 12:30 PM: Class
12:40 - 2:40: Work
3:00 - 4:00: Training
4:00: Shower
4:30: Dinner
5:00 - 7:00: homework and studying
7:00 - 10:00: Time with girlfriend/friends (not every MWF, and not always for three hours, but just scheduling it in)
10:00 - 12:00: Starcraft 2 Practice
12:00: Sleep

-Meals on this day will be a whore. I plan on living on shakes and grabbing cups of cottage cheese from our cafe.

Tuesday and Thursday
7:45 AM: Wake
8:00: Breakfast
8:40 - 10:10: Class
10:20: Cardio for 30 minutes
11:00: Fastest shower of my life
11:30 - 1:00: Class
1:00 - 1:30: Lunch
1:30 - 3:00: Class
3:30 - 4:30: Training
4:30: Shower
5:00: Dinner
5:30 - 7:30: homework and studying
7:30 - 10:00: Time with girlfriend/friends (not every TR, and not always for two and a half hours, but just scheduling it in)
10:00 - 12:00 AM: Starcraft 2 Practice
12:00: Sleep

-Meals not so bad, as I get a solid lunch, but will still have some shakes.

Saturday
Noon: Wake
12:30: Cardio for 30 minutes
1:00: Lunch
1:30 - 4:30: Whatever random homework I need to catch up on
4:30 - 5:30: Dinner
6:00 - 10:30: Time with girlfriend/friends (not every S, and not always for four and a half hours, but just scheduling it in)
10:30 - 12:00 AM: Starcraft 2 Practice
12:00: Sleep

-Meals suck pretty bad on the weekends at my school.

Sunday
8:30 AM: Wake
9:30 - 12:30 PM: Church
12:30 - 1:00: Lunch
1:00 - 3:30: Starcraft 2 practice
3:30 - 5:30: Chillin
5:30 - 6:00: Dinner
6:00 - 8:00: Church
8:00 - 12:00: Chillin

-I buy into the Sabbath thing so I take Sundays and just chill and spend time with friends/girlfriend while teaching some classes at church.
-I'll eat today as I can

Ideally I get to work at a research facility. Translating ancient text, research, etc etc. But I would take teaching at a university. I like to teach and that would still allow me to do research :D

And ideally I want to live out west like California/Arizona.

Christian. Specifically I'm from the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wesley)

Whats it like being a christian on the "hard" internet. Nerdy sites like tl tend to have strong atheist factions. Its not as visible on TL because of the strict moderation, but if you visit sites like reddi,t without any moderation, you can see its at it worst.

/r/atheism is probably one of the greatest intellectual challenges I experience on a regular basis. I love reading the arguments. Admittedly, I find most of them weak and not completely thought out. most arguments have been used over and over and leave some stuff out, but every now and again I find something that makes me think and makes me have to think about my views, and come up with an articulate response.

Great, but don't spend too much time thinking about masters league.

I am a mid master, and since my foray into the korean server I can beat high masters. With this skill level...

I don't even think it is worth joining a playhem for serious competition.

_______

I normally just don't talk anything about what religion I believe in. I could be part of the church of thee flying spaghetti monster, muslim, or atheist. No-one on the internet needs to know.

Why would you want to read arguments? aren't you worried that your one will convince you and destroy your faith. I say that because a lot of religious people talk about faith like its a tangible positive thing that has a good influence on your life. I personally wish i could believe in god because i think that knowing someone was watching out for me would be really comforting.

Nice that you included church in your schedule.
Few people would have declared that in the open.

I like to read arguments because I consider myself an intellectual and want to put my faith in the correct things. I used to be a practical atheist (I believed in God, but didn't give two shits about Him or His opinion of my life). I turned to theism, and specifically Christianity, because of the sense that it made to me. Philosophical proofs for God's existence are logically sound (for the most part) and the historical evidence supporting the ancient texts is strong in my opinion.

If you can't prove the things you believe in, at least a little bit, then your just a blind idiot. Now there are some paradox's/un-explainable attributes of Christianity but I refuse to be one of those "take it by faith" type of people. Stuff has to be explained to me.

I have faith, reason, experience, and tradition on my side (see my Wesleyan background coming out?). If your faith can't be challenged and stand the test of whatever comes your way, it never existed in the first place. I had to have a lot of intellectual barriers surrounding Christianity explained to me before I would think about giving my life to this.

Looks like a good and ambitious schedule. You are much more organized than myself however, I spend my life on a unset schedule frantically dashing to and fro. Maybe I should take some advice from you and plan out my day :D? And most of all GL HF with Starcraft 2 and life.

Why not wake up at 7 on tuesdays and thursdays as well and get the cardio done before class? . Seems like a tight fit to get it done in between your classes o.O. But good luck! I wish I could make a plan like this and stick to it.

Your career goals seem really interesting to me. I think ancient civilizations and early written and spoken languages are very intriguing. I think biblical translations and its early history are fascinating. The bible went through multiple languages and many different translators so based on its original form we probably have a bunch of things wrong.

If you need any help or encouragement for your athletic endeavors stop by the health and fitness sub forum if you haven't yet. The running thread is pretty awesome.

If you are a Protoss player and want some help feel free to add me. AirbladeOran.159

Hi, you seem really determined and i wish you good luck with your goals.

But i have to ask, since you said something in the line. What philosofical proof for god is it that you consider logically sensible? Feel free to tell if you dont want any outgoing debate on that, but i was just curious :D

I know that these set schedules are supposed to discipline you, but I'm not a big fan of those =) It would work if the world revolved around that schedule, but it never does. I find just 'making the best of each day' good enough for me, haha.

As for your career goal, best of luck! Good to hear you also visit the secular worlds, even /r/atheism, because it will give you a more 'complete' view.

Speaking of which, I have a personal question. Lately in my community I've been noticing that the church has become more of a place 'to flirt and socialize' for teenagers and young adults, rather than a place of humility and worship. There's nothing wrong with gathering and socializing with fellow Christians, but I feel like they treat the church like a public plaza. Not even a quarter of them (yes I know them personally) can recite the Lord's Prayer off the top of their head - I'm not saying memorizing prayers is a requirement, but honestly, if they didn't fall asleep during mass they would have at least heard it every weekend and it should be nailed into their heads. So, in your opinion, is it wrong to attend church for the sole purpose of socializing?

That's an interesting question. Initially I thought, "It is absolutely inappropriate!" But then I thought about it, and the church exists because of community. Community is one of the reasons many people come to church. They are looking for a place to fit in. It's funny how life comes full circle because I came to youth group originally to appease my mother and hang out with some kids from school, so I guess I am a product of the "socialization."

So in short, no, not really. I believe in the conviction of the Spirit and all that so people who are truly open/receptive will get something out of the church experience other than social stuff anyway, even if they do not originally intend.

That's an interesting question that I would have to think about in depth. It's sad that the church has become more of a public plaza rather than a place for worship though. The main purpose of the church in general should always be to worship and serve God, but having people in the church there just for the community isn't a bad thing. But ask me in a couple days so I can think about it a little more thoroughly
