Travels! Any Madrid/SA ppl here?

I'm crossposting this from my Liquidpoker blog, I'm more of a regular poster on that site but starcraft and TL hold a special place in my heart too <3 Also I anticipate and hope I'll get a decent amount of great feedback from here because that's just what TL seems to do.

Hi guys. Happy 2012! Let's achieve our goals this year!

So earlier today I booked a last minute trip for 3 weeks from next week because why not. I'm headed towards South America and am gonna meet up with a small group of close mates that already out there, including my housemate Tom who prob needs no introduction on here (edit: 'here' being LP lol. He is a semi-quasi-e-famous-internet poker player who goes by the name "tjbentham" on pokerstars). Pretty excited for the trip, here's my rough itinerary:

- Tues 17 Jan fly from London in the morning to Madrid. It's a connecting flight to Buenos Aires but I did it in such a way that I should have a day to quickly check out Madrid. Are there any TLers in Madrid who wanna meet up for dinner/a beer/show me around a bit next Tuesday? That would be awesome if so! Pls msg me asap!

- A week in Buenos Aires, Argentina from Jan 18th-24th

- ????????????? from Jan 24th to Jan 28th. Haven't decided yet. My friends are going to Rurrenabaque to mess about in a jungle. As I hate bugs I think I would enjoy that about as much as Karl Pilkington did on An Idiot Abroad. I may just suck it up and join them for the experience and to say I did it. Open to any suggestions, anything unmissable? Next stop is in Peru so was considering Lima on the shortlist for this slot of time, any TLers in Lima who wanna show me around?

- Get to Cusco, Peru on 29th. Check out the sights there for a couple of days, acclimatise to the altitude a bit. Then a 4 day jungle route (ffs no bugs plz) to Machu Picchu including downhill biking, rafting, 2 days trekking and last day hike up to MP itself. Looking really forward to this except for bugs. One rest day in Cusco after this before...

- 5th Feb fly to La Paz, Bolivia to ride a bicycle down something called Death Road.

- 7th Feb be happy to be still alive (one time) and hightail it back to London.

Would love as much feedback as I can get about any part of any of this. For example, what can you do in half a day in Madrid? What shouldn't we miss in Buenos Aires? What are some things I should consider doing to fill in "??????????"?

I'd be down but I'm not in Madrid at the moment. It depends on what you want to do. Of course there is the world renowned El Prado art museum if that interests you. If you like outdoors (without the bugs!) check out El Retiro. If you plan on going out at night (not sure, given you only have a day) go by Puerta del Sol at night and there'll be plenty of promoters trying to drag you into their bars/clubs. If you do go out, I highly recommend El Tigre. It's a moderately small bar that's infamous for beer/cider and literally small mountains of tapas that come with every round of drinks. You'll surely find some English speakers there too.

I'm from Lima, you can do some sightseeing around the government palace (where the president lives) or the Cathedral of Lima and hop around some bars in Barranco

bugs are going to be there no matter how badly you hate them xd... so take some vaccines and tons of repelent...

Sounds awesome, wouldve been nice to have a night in Madrid.. another time

You're talking about jabs for mosquitos right? For Dengue, Malaria etc.?

I find it funny that people who come to places where there are many mosquitos (like Malaysia) get jabs while we are just chilling here 365 days a year.

I don't know if it's more dangerous in other places but I heard it from this French guy who says that he'll need jabs if he comes to Malaysia >_>

was jabs for yellow fever, hep a/b, typhoid, polio, something else i forgot. i don't know about malaria jabs, they do malaria tablets but being at altitude in Peru/Bolivia I won't need them
