If you need an RPG kick, Deus Ex never fails, or games like Morrowind, Fallout series, Baldurs Gate, etc.

Because of its system, it is very easy to make a mistake with your character, since just leveling up is not the proper way to build an end-game character. As far as FF goes, probably go with FFIV, FFV, FFVII, FFIX, or FFX where leveling up at least has no penalties. 6 is great fun the first time through! The level up system only presents a problem if you're a perfectionist. Monsters/bosses don't level up with you, and even lowlevel-coupled-with-other-handicap runs are quite doable in the game. Once I understood magicite, it was just like "Oh." and I continued through. Can always level up more if want chars stronger ![]() And actually 9 had level up stat gains too, based on stat-boosting equipment being used. Like if you wore some str+3 thing for several levels, you'd get str+1 to base stats. Didn't affect gameplay much for me though ;p

aiden chronicles. its for n64 and the graphics are not that bad really. its a sick story but more importantly the game is actually good. its turn based movement rpg where you fight a single mob that opens onto a battlefield where you take turns moving and attacking within the designated area. its so so fun and the storyline is great as well as the world being VERY large containing many hidden gems of gameplay/items i am most fond of this game above all other rpg if you end up getting it get mario rpg legend of the 7 stars. amazing game man its also a sick mario style story that fits in super nicely with everything and its also long enough to be an rpg game. some levels are very very long
