Topic will discuss TLC, so obviously it will have spoilers.
Disclaimer: Going into this topic, if you have any criticisms of Professional Wrestling (for example "Why do you watch it if it's fake?), please read criticisms other users posted in the previous WWE Topic: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=244959 In other words, we don't care.
Anyway, no one seems to care about Wrestling at Team Liquid. Maybe we can get a discussion started here on blogs.
Have to say, the bad stuff at TLC was pretty damn bad. Big Show vs. Henry, Nash vs. Triple H, and the Divas match was awful, as expected from all the participants involved in those matches, except maybe HHH.
Sheamus vs. Swagger was very meh due to the fact that it was just a random match announced at the PPV and nothing really being on the line. Orton vs. Barret table match was pretty much the same. Whoop, I'M GOING TO DIVE HEADFIRST INTO RANDY ORTON. Yeah, "RKO out of nowhere" was old a long time ago.
However, there were matches that were pretty good as well. Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T was surprisingly watchable. Goes to show how Booker can still put on a pretty damn good match despite how old he is. However, i could have done without Rhodes having to resort to attacking Booker backstage in order to get his win. It's stupid, and kayfabe-wise, I don't think Rhodes should have been able to do something like that without some kind of warning from the GM. And it makes his character look incredibly weak when he can't even defend his title against a commentator without having to resort to attacking him backstage.
I mean, the story could have been just as good without it. Booker tries to compete again and almost makes it in the match, but his time has passed and Rhodes wins. Then Rhodes could have attacked Booker AFTER the match for Booker not staying down or having to work so hard to beat him when it should have been easy. or something like that. And THEN Booker could have had his vacation without Rhodes looking so weak.
Air Boom vs. Primo and Epico was a really good match too. I like that it seems like WWE is trying to build up their Tag division again. I'd definitely like to see more of Primo and Epico and hope they get a Tag Team Title run soon, I rather like watching their Luchadore style. Good to see Bourne back from his probation, and hope he doesn't make a mistake like that again.
And then there were the GREAT things that happened at TLC. At long last, Zack Ryder's online efforts payed off and he finally obtained his US Title. I hope this means that Ziggler goes on to the Main Event scene. Loved how much the fans were into his win and how Ryder's dad totally marked out when he won. I think we all did. #woowoowoo #youknowit
Despite how HORRENDOUSLY BAD Big Show vs. Mark Henry was, it was definitely salvaged by DANIEL BRYAN cashing in his Money In the Bank Briefcase and after so many setbacks and stuff from a clearly talented wrestler, FINALLY got his hands on the World Heavyweight Title. Was so happy for him.
And then of course the main event. It was good and all the wrestlers hit a lot of cool spots. Really glad Punk retained his title and hopefully this is start of a lengthy run for him.
Now with Punk, Bryan, and Ryder as champions, it could be very possible the Age of the Internet has begun for the WWE. lol.

Just goes to show that it really has become a whole New generation of Superstars than when you used to watch.

Right now I am listening to Smart Wrestling Fan, a podcast covering the week in wrestling (www.smartwrestlingfan.com).
They have four hosts, and people writing in tend to give them four made up names as a joke, usually with the fourth co-host named chimp. I was packing to go and see my parents for Christmas, so I was not really paying attention. However, at some point one of the e-mailers had written in entitling the casters 'Boxer, MMA, Ryung and Chimp'.
Needless to say, I found this quite amusing.
Also, it is great to see that picture. One can only hope that WWE has realised that they need to grow new stars, and the current title holders are no slouches. I do not really watch wrestling any more, I basically just listen to the podcast to keep up with the news (and because I really like the hosts) but I still have fond memories of watching ten years ago.

I used to watch WWE a lot when I was younger. I don't anymore, but I still find it entertaining to go and watch them when they come into town.
My grandma even used to love watching it with us. She'd get into it more than we did. She hated Triple H as much as she loved The Rock. Great times.
I think WWE definitely needs to find a new niche or something. With the rise of UFC and actual realistic drama, I won't be too surprised if WWE becomes obsolete in the future.

I stopped watching the TLC vod when Ryder defeated Ziggler. That was just too depressing.
Also the whole trending on twitter shit, as well as the wwe network thing, meh I don't really dig it tbh. We'll see.

I don't think anyone cares about the twitter or WWE network stuff. But why the heck would you stop at Ryder vs. Ziggler? Ryder is definitely fun to watch. And can't believe you missed the main event.

About Zack Ryder, I don't know... His popularity is understandable, however personally I can't stand him.

TLC was really great. Didn't like Daniel Bryan's win, though. I was really hoping he would cash it in and win at WrestleMania.

I only care about 1 event in wrestling. That is, Wrestlemania. With that is the undertaker's streak, and of all, The Rock vs John Cena.
|
WWE is in need of legit main eventers imo. They basically only have Cena, Randy Orton and CM Punk, with a part time Triple H and even more part time Undertaker. There hasn't really been any new stars to fill the voids left by departures of Batista, Jeff Hardy, HBK, Edge, Chris Jericho. I still watch even though I have to put up with ADR, big show, henry, who are just flat out boring.

I'm kicking myself for falling asleep right before the main event. All in all, TLC was A LOT better than previous PPVs. Ryder winning was awesome because it means 2 things. Ryder is definitely getting a push and Ziggler is moving up into the main event scene where he belongs.
I can't believe your hating on Nash/HHH though. Going into the match my expectations were way low. Surprisingly, they put on a decent match with some good action. My only gripe was it could've used a little blood to show how serious the feud these two were in. Damn PG era.
I'm freaking ecstatic Bryan won the Heavyweight title, but knowing how they shit on good wrestlers, i don't expect him to hold it past Royal Rumble next year.
Orton is getting stale. Rhodes is still awesome as usual. Tag team division is getting revamped. Good, good PPV.
Anyone know where I can stream the Punk/Miz/Del Rio main event? I can't seem to find it.

That's what was originally going to happen, as both Mark Henry vs. Daniel Bryan for the WHC and CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE title was already been confirmed in leaked promotions for WM. However, Mark Henry's injury-proneness caught up to him and he received a groin injury. So they decided to just push it up.

ADR is a solid ring worker. What I think they need to do is give him a more interesting gimmick than just "I'M RICH. IT IS MY DESTINY. SPANISH". Quite literally. His ring announcer is more interesting than he is lol. That and a non-submission finisher.
But they've been attempting to push Miz, R Truth, and Daniel Bryan throughout the year, and it looks like Dolph could possibly be moving up as well. Heck, Miz and Del Rio were in the main events at Wrestlemania. And Jericho's reportedly coming back. Also, don't know what Batista's doing on your list, Batista's always been boring. I guess it all depends on your definition of "legit".

The main event was pretty awesome. Those three (four if you count del Rio's ring announcer) put on a really good show. I just wish WWE does something with the divas because every single match they put on is boring.

I miss the blood too.

It's pretty much how I expect the divas division to be. Since only 2 of them could really work a match. 3 if you count Kharma but she's not back yet.
