Hey guys!
I was born in 1992, but I have an irresistible urge to enjoy music from that same year, but only in electro/house dance music.
Most of my music taste is classic/hard rock or heavy metal. My favorite is Progressive rock! =)

I first discovered it from the Shamen, which i hear is really mainstream, any idea on anything less mainstream? I feel like everything was underground and got lost.

Anyone else like dance music from the early 90's?

As a dancer, I can't imagine myself dancing to any of these, especially in those costumes hahaha

The dance label is more of an early word for the underground rave. especially in Britain. (this is as far as i can tell lol. I resent not living in that musical landscape and experiencing it for myself).

I'm surprised that you have excluded these "wonderful" eurodance/hip-house hits. Yes this is as cheesy as it gets, listener beware.

And don't get me started with Vengaboys and Aqua. Anyway this is what I think about when someone says "90' DANCE".

However the "underground" scene was MUCH MUCH different, with rave music such as acid-house, progressive-house and trance, drum n' bass/jungle and techno (and of course all the off suit styles of hardhouse/happyhouse bla. bla. bla.... ).

Experience by Prodigy is an amazing album, released in '92. Starts off with:

Hyperspeed, Charly, Out of Space, Everybody in the Place, and Fire still take me to a happy place =D

Orbital's releases Orbital ('91) and Orbital 2 ('93) straddle your birth year. Lots of great tracks on both. Chime, Belfast, Lush, Halcyon + On + On and more. Looks like you found them already, but consider this an extra recommendation.

If you want to dig around for more oldschool/underground stuff maybe give this a listen and see if you like anything in particular:

off his site at: http://www.shitmixtapes.com/
more kutski mixtapes, who did an oldschool Prodigy mix on his BBC radio1 show tonight (up for a week) :

http://www.shitmixtapes.com/mixtapes/2010/5/27/unkool-oldskool.html

edit: Hahah oh don't get me started on the really popular 90's dance music =D I'm a sucker for Blumchen and Scooter. Oh *(& actually, check out Dune. They're great

edit2:
more happy cheese:

more of my actual favorites:

edit3:
trance? '96 but yeah, early-mid 90's were a great time for it

edit4 (lol):
rmb so good:

TDV so good too if you like bouncier stuff:

just squeaks in to the 90's with a '99 release:

more scott brown:

and more... wait for the piano:

edit7?:
Leftfield's Leftism is worth a listen too, released '95. here's a sample

Not sure trip-hop qualifies as dance music, but Massive Attack released this in '91, epic:

their album Protection came out in '94 too, great stuff:

but seriously, listen to the whole Experience first =D

Wahey! If I may:

It's sick how much time you can lose just hopping from video to video on youtube...

And off we go again:

They aren't all from 92 though sorry, more 91-93. The music certainly didn't get lost though, no way. That's a pretty cherished period I think, with many different genres appearing and trying to forge an identity for themselves.
