Jo guys,

as I indicated in my last Blog (6 days, 3 bucks), I'm a poor student.

Boring summary of my financial situation (skip ahead):
+ Show Spoiler +

First of all, I'm not complaining. I made a huge mistake in my past and didn't get the 'abitur' (prerequisite for visiting the university in Germany), but got a job instead, so I could move out of my parent's house and move in with my GF.

Retarded, right?

But, awesome as Germany is, I now live comfortably in my own place while government pays me to go to school with the purpose of getting my 'abitur' after all. Basically, a student who wants to get higher education can get 'Schüler-BaFÖG', which is a special kind of funding for education.
In my case, that's roughly 600 € a month, about € 21,000 for 3 years, which I don't even have to pay back, ever.

Besides the 'BaFÖG', one can only make € 400,00, everything more gets deducted from the funding.

Are you still with me?

Since this is more than enough to live by, I'm in no real trouble, but I'd love to save up a couple of bucks. Thus, I'm looking for creative, inofficial ways to make a little money.

Things I have to rule out:

a) illegal dealings (no brainer)
b) prostitution (not sanitary, and I'm hard pressed to find women to sleep with as it is)
c) tutoring younger students (in my city, there are more university-students per capita than anywhere else, six highly gifted and well educated university-students per one retarded fith-grader)

Things I'd consider:

a) performing music on the street (problem: Winter is Coming)
b) giving guitar lessons (problem: there are tons of more qualified students around)
c) this is where your suggestions kick in!

Don't be afraid to think outside the box!

****

I've been thinking about doing portraits at a tourist site or somewhere with lots of relatively idle people. I'd want to do a couple days of free ones to practice and chase away nervousness. That's my hustle idea.

Illegal dealings in a city with more university students per capita than anywhere else sounds like a recipe for easy money.

if you're not in college for music and at the top of your rung, don't bother trying to get students; I'm one of the top rung students and I'm very greedy with the local business, gigs and students.

Why don't you just get a job that you enjoy rather than trying to find a quick fix?

Because there is a cap on how much money I can make doing a regular job. Also, I will move to a new place come February and need some quick cash for that (not exactly need, rather want) and I don't like the idea of accepting gifts from my family or loaning money.

Well, as you probably know a lot of jobs cater to students / other people that aren´t "allowed" to earn more than 400 bucks.
What I did a few times and what is a decent short time job is searching vor "Inventur"-jobs in your area. These normally go only 1 or 2 full days and are always a one time thing, so its not much of a commitment. Its boring and I would be lying if I tried to tell you its fun, but if you just want some extra money its probably the easiest you can get without a longer term commitment.

Where are you studying btw ? sounds a bit like a small town with a huge university. You could probably search for stuff like that in a wider area around you too, university railway ticket should get you some range there, and for only 1 or 2 days the travel should be ok.

Win starcraft 2 tournaments!

If making money would be so easy, we would have no problems doing so. Sorry bud, guess a part time job is your best option.

I'm in Münster, it's an approximately 250kcity, I believe.

I also have a car, so I'm pretty flexible, so yeah, time to get some papers for inventur-jobs. I did it once when I was eight, I left the Baumarkt crying in exasperation and boredom after just over an hour. Made 5 mark, though.

Get to know a few semi-pro guitarists, teach beginners, then recommend your students to them when you find that they've passed a certain standard.

I've no idea if this works, but you could try writing jokes or articles for random magazines. I've fiddled with the idea, but ended up teaching violin part time while keeping a blog which has some (lousy) short stories.

Good luck!

Can you sell plasma? In the US we can make about $70 every 2 weeks. It takes about an hour or so.

Ah, from Münster it should be pretty okay to get something like that. Ruhr Area is not that far away :D
Just don´t run over any bicycles on the way, that city always scared the shit out of me when I was there driving a car... the only town I know where you are screwed as a car driver compared to cyclists..

Ah man, how could I forget that?

The hospital to sell plasma is right next to my school, so that's basically a freebie.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Pretty much, but I rarely ever drive into the inner city by car, it's simply horrid for car drivers.

Please note that plasma isn't the stuff that comes out of your testicular twins.

Nah, just DRK shit where I live. The local hospital doesn't pay and the one in Recklinghausen neither. So yeah Münster would be the closest^^

Helping elderly people?
Many seniors want to take up computer classes/need someone to take care of the garden, their dogs, etc... first try to see if there isn't anyone in your neighbourhood who needs help or services like those. Even if the pay is low it's still a very good way to get money if it's 5 minutes away from your place.
