What Caffeine Does --Link to YouTube
I, much like JennaMarbles, have a hard time waking up in the morning. Because I hate coffee and most tea, about a year ago I decided to try a new caffeine source: 5hr Energy! Like everything in this world, there are positive and negative things about it.
Positive: (from my experience)
-No problem getting school work done, or working in a fast-paced environment!
-I look pro working out at the gym. :D
-I get an almost euphoric mood for an hour or two.
-I can stay up late-night for some epic questing, raiding, etc!
-If you're doing something that requires lots of repetition and is very monotonous, it seems to fly by and almost become fun!
Negative: (from my experience)
-I can't do anything that requires thinking... I get lost in my thoughts.
-The crash. The product has been advertised as having no crash, but i find that claim to be false. I usually get a mild headache, followed by me basically passing out. lol.
-The ingredients! (Although, this could be considered a positive. I mean, hey, I wouldn't need to worry about my Vitamin B12 levels for a couple years!)
* Niacin: 150% DV * B6: 2,000% DV * Folic Acid: 100% DV * B12: 8,333% DV
These days I usually drink about 1/2 a bottle every 24 hours, and when I don't, I don't feel energized enough to get anything done. I know this isn't good for me!!!!
Anyway, what is your experience with energy shots? Do you feel the benefits outweigh the side effects and long-term effects they can have? Do you think Americans use too many products to overextend themselves?
Thanks for reading/replying!
P.S.- This is my first blog post.. yay me! :D Edit- I actually am a girl. Hehe I think I misunderstood what a 'Girl Blog' meant.

Energy drinks get me high like that. I am usually a mess and shake my way through whatever task I am doing. When I don't work out as much or eat properly I have a higher chance of having a dependency on this kind of stuff.
It's difficult, but worth it in the end, to just eat well and work out. I find that I have energy for whatever I need to do that way.
However, nothing will EVER replace that first cup of coffee in the morning. It is like reuniting with an old lover ^^

I used it to coop with jetlag when I arrived in chicago this september a bottle per day for like 4 days straught. then I flew to vegas and took like 1 1/2 bottles per day for another 3 days.
now I can't even think of that stuff without being disgusted. I don't think it's good for your health. coffee should be enough
on a sidenote: if you buy it on a flight in europe it has about 80000% B12, so 10 times the 'normal' american dose. sounds even more reasonable.

Stop drinking that shit, get on a more nutritious diet, and achieve the same effect for far less money!

Caffeine does cause dependence, you become tolerant over time and will need more and more. There is also mild caffeine withdrawal, you will be extremely fatigued until you drink more coffee, headaches are possible as well.

Sheesh! Dependency? Withdrawals? Those words make me think of hardcore drugs. 0.0

oh god I love 5 hour energy. I don't get to take it much though because it costs money and I am the poorest sob alive.
it totaaaaaaally wakes me up and gets me pumped to do whatever.

You can get 99 cent ones at Aldi's! Off-brand but it has the same stuff as 5 hr. Energy.

b-vitamins are pretty harmless. I wouldn't worry about it. ADEK are the ones you should be careful of, especially A.
