FUCK I am so fucking tired...this morning at 5:20 AM in Iraq. I took my APFT which is basically an US Army physical fitness test. We do these tests like every 6 months, but my platoon loves doing these tests like every 3 months T_T
The test consist 3 events, which is 2 minute push ups, 2 minutes sit ups and a timed 2 mile event.
I did
73 - push ups = 100 points <----- Maxed
70 - sit ups = 87 points <-------- :[
13:50 - 2 mile run time = 88 points <------ :[
Overall Score - 275 <----- PASSED :D!
Man my push up event was brutal... It was fucking cold outside, I was basically shivering every time as I tried to push up. I started banging out 40 In a row then I was like hell yeah. I can kick some ass in this event!. When I hit 55 ish I started to struggle, when my buddy told me he had 2 bowls of Nong Shim Ramyun waiting for me. I banged out it out until I hit 73, I felt really good after that. Since I passed my push up event I knew I was gonna own this test.
The sit up portioned of the test was embarrassing, all I gotta say at 60 sit ups I kinda farted as I went up. My platoon sergeant said "damn playa that's what I'm talkin about son" LOL... Overall I did pretty good.
My running event was good I guess, except I had to run against the fucking wind and breathing in smog from all the burning tires and other good shit. I had a nice ass pace, I was passing up some of my battle buddies and I felt Invincible. I ran like a champ son :D
Gonna go throw down on another bowl of ramen for now =]

I don't understand how you can do pushups faster than you do situps...

I've always had a hard time doing sit ups, I can't do them fast and consistent like like my push ups. Of all of my APFT's I've taken my sit ups is my weakest event. :[

But damn man I wish I could do that. When I was in the army I found that generally people ended up doing more pushups than situps over the 2 minutes. I was the opposite and definitely a rarity.

How strict are each exercise? When you do pushups do you just go 1 inc from the ground with eye toward ground? Or eyes looking forward/up?

Nice job! If I remember correctly, you have to bend your elbows past 90 degrees and you can look anywhere you want. On the tests I believe they something under your chest just to be sure that you went far enough, but I'm not too sure since it was a long time ago.

Depends on your platoons standards on how strict they want it. As soon as my dog tag's (with my shirt on) touches the ground I push up. I tend to look forward when I go down and up, It's easier for me to break the plane on my back. That's what they are looking for when they are grading you.

Depending on your age group.
I am 20 years old, my Age group is 17-21
To max I would need 71 push ups, 78 sit ups and 13:00 minutes flat run time

You have to take it again, either in a few weeks or in a couple of months. If you fail it again you might get kicked out of the Army. They are kicking people out of he Army for bad conduct, overweight and APFT failures.
