I have FOUR videos that were all made over a year ago.
Only 1,187 channel views.
Only 16,521 total views.
What exactly is the criterion for becoming a youtube partner anyway?

I put up some YTPs I am ashamed of a year ago and forgot about the channel and got the email two weeks ago. The funny thing was all my videos were taken down for infringement AND I got this message, on the same day. But they exclude mashup content so I was ineligible (and don't care) but it is probably fair use to do what I did as parody.

Those are my only 4 videos.

I got one of these emails too and I too set up an Adsense account. I only have 3 videos, one was made 2 years ago and the others a few months ago, I think they have a total of 1000 views. I was considering starting a Youtube series in order to make money off this as a hobby, but they're pretty specific about disallowing video game content. My whole plan was to start posting Dota 2 gameplay videos with appropriate editing and bells and whistles, but if video game content isn't eligible, it doesn't seem like that's an option. If that's the case, though, then how are all these other people who have chosen to monetize their videos making money off video game content? Are they all partner channels or going through something like Machinima, or are they just defrauding Adsense by not marking their content as video games?

Pretty much as long as you're commentating over it, it can allowed. People who do playthroughs can make the explanation that they're doing a walkthrough and instructing people how to go through a game. Or they're doing a live review of the game or something like that. Or at least that's the explanation I'm using when I'm monetizing the videos.
