My two dollar clock I bought at ikea is showing some strange symptoms:
A) It’s a little more than 5 minutes fast, and I bought it about 2 months ago (at which point I set it to the correct time). B) The minute hand takes 6 ticks to get from 4 to 5, 4 ticks to get from 11 to 12, and 5 ticks between every other adjacent pair of numbers C) One night I noticed it wasn’t even working at all (nothing was moving). Then, strangely, after a time it began working again. Most surprisingly, it showed the correct time when it started working again (so somehow resynched).
So what’s wrong with my clock? I’m considering taking it apart to see if there are any bent parts (it has fallen off my wall from 6 feet onto tile 3 times).
Here's what it looks like:

Since it was only two dollars, I would just get a new one

Take that sucker apart and figure it out, way more enjoyable than just buying another one (unless you totally fuck shit up inside of it of course). Could be a useful small talent to have, you never know.

They're intentionally trying to confuse you. Don't give in!

Just buy another one as a replacement. You can then tinker with the wonky one at leisure and have two awesome clocks if you manage to fix the first.

I thought you meant "sick" as in "badass."
I didn't think you meant "sick" as in "my clock has an illness."
Quite bizarre, indeed. You say it has fallen off of the wall 3 times? I'll assume that it fell off on its own. Then, the clock stops working, then starts working again and has the correct time? I really think it's time for you to call someone to fix this...
Who you gonna call? + Show Spoiler +
No, but really, I haven't the slightest clue of what's wrong with your clock. I would just buy a new one. If you figure out what's wrong with it, let us know, even if it's just poorly made.

It's a badass clock though. It was featured prominently in the first episode of the newer Battlestar Galactica series:

I remember feeling cool about having that clock on my wall as I watched that episode, haha.

well that all evens out in the end doesn't it?

I think I'll do this, and then report back!

Indeed thats true, but I'm wondering how this behavior came about. Is it due to the design of the clock, or is it damaged so that it does this for some reason?

Take off the clock from the wall
give it a smack in the face
put it back on.
It always does the trick for my calculator. .

A cheap clock that doesn't work properly = a perfect excuse to take it apart and tinker!

ikea
I found the problem ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif)
on a more serious note, take it apart and try fiddling with things. nothing more rewarding than solving a problem on your own.

Your clock is not fast, the world is just turning slow. Fix the world and you fix your clock. You may want to enlist the help of Superman as he seems to have a knack for those kinda things.

I thought this would be about showing off your cool looking clock. I'm going to do that anyways.

That is basically my clock. Costed way more than it should have tho, but just watching the gears turn is so cool omg.
