Heaven might be even worse, though. Evangelicals are the kinds of people us sinners despise the most.

Seems like Hell is okay after all.
Well don't forget, there's also the burning fire and demons tearing people apart stories...and the whole imagery of maggots crawling out of eyes etc. Anyways the point is, I think it would be a pretty painful place. Not just like an underground city with all the prostitutes and gay people and what not, and they just have parties because why not. I'm sure that eternal torment is justified in other meaningful ways, not just because other "negative" people are there.
I love that sign

You seem to indicate that there is a "worse" kind of suffering than the suffering experienced on Earth. But this doesn't really make sense, because in the afterlife we lose our physical bodies. Hell and Heaven, as I recall, are supposed to be spiritual places. The worst kind of suffering as defined by the Bible is separation from God - a spiritual suffering. Therefore, once again, Hell is no worse than Earth.

My 'revelation' about hell is really something I stole from a comedian. Basically, both hell and heaven are supposed to be eternal right? Well, give someone long enough and they will get used to anything...something good will become monotonous, and something bad will become bearable...so really, as time approaches infinity, both heaven and hell become boring.
Then again I'm an atheist so I don't really believe either one exists...just food for thought.

As a child the church actually taught me that this wouldn't work. lol

As far as I can tell most educated theologians don't even take it seriously. At least that's what a minister told me. And as an atheist I don't believe it to be real.

At least murderers didn't make the list

Something I always found interesting about the heaven and hell thing. From my understanding according to the bible satan was at one time an angel of heaven but he was banished from heaven when he questioned gods reasoning and ways.
Then the bible goes on to describe satan as a ruler of a fiery pit of pain suffering and torment. However what people dont really take into consideration is that the bible was "written by god" I have a hard time imagining that god would have anything good to say about satan when he is writing his story and he comes to the part where he went to war with satan and cast him away and then satan went and did his OWN thing without GOD then it would be pretty reasonable to speculate that GOD is biased in describing the conditions of hell due to his own inherit nature of wanting people to pray to him instead of satan.
I have a feeling Satan just opened up shop in hell AKA *an alternative heaven* for less uptight people to reside in an afterlife of banging hookers and drinking 40z. And If you think about it the only reasonable thing for god to do would be to slander hell and scare people from wanting to go there.
I know damn well I would do the same thing if I was in gods shoes or sandals or w.e the fuck he wears.. Im not gonna sit around and let all the people on earth go and worship satan in hell and leave me sitting around forever alone while everyone else is partying down and shit.. Im gonna do whatever I have to do to make sure people want to go to heaven instead of hell. And what better way to make people inclined to avoid it than to tell everyone its on fire. Its a classic way to discourage people from wanting to go there. God aint fucking stupid he knows the power of propaganda. And he also knows how much people HATE to be on fire. Also Lemonwalrus.

heaven is an idiotic idea
what's so good about heaven? and can you imagine doing whatever you do there for eternity?
death is much more peaceful than any eternal life.
|
not believing in an afterlife i see hell as dying with regrets about your life. Live to the fullest die happy, and there lies heaven.

I remember I read a book about a missionary having a vision of going into Hell; the book is called "23 Minutes in Hell" and it was quite a read. It seemed to be accepted amongst various Christian communities; but others, no.
Either way, it's a pretty interesting read and if you guys are really curious, you guys should check it out; because personally I don't find going to Hell as being "awesome".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/23_Minutes_In_Hell
It goes into greater detail, if you guys wanna search it up on Google, wikipedia doesn't give that much details. Anyways, don't shoot me or flame me or what not, I'm just postingg
