Clan members come and go as they sign up for the website and don't bother to post a topic assuming they are on the clan even though they don't contribute at all. Although we have an actual clan forum that shows that you're actually part of the clan.

I wonder where else could i possibly outsource to advertise the clan? Some say spam channels, youtubes, Twitch.tvs , but is there any other without constantly spamming i wouldn't want to post it on here yet because i feel I haven't contributed enough to deserve anything out of this community.

Anyone have any ideas? suggestions?

Our actual team will be formed soon hopefully :3 NeoN Rain Hwaiting!

I had this one guy say his clan's website at the end of the game. Maybe try that. =)

During beta I did this ALL the time... it's actually surprising how many people you can pick up doing this, especially if you're inthe lower leagues (Diamond or below).

Don't be an idiot and ask after you cheese or they cheese you or there's BM. You can usually tell how the person is after a sentence or two.

As a rule of thumb, I always asked at the end of the game after I gg or they gg. The worst thing that could happen is they say "LOLNOTHNX!" which isn't too bad.

Running a clan is a vicious thing, because you need to find ways to keep people active through incentives and... activity. It's like the whole "You need a job to get a job." type issue as well. Just act professional, be friendly and people will come to you.

I've wanted to join a clan since release, but I am extremely picky... Especially if I'm gonna use my one and only free name change

Usually I go in a clan channel and when no one says a word for about a minute I just leave lol...

Whatever you do, please don't spam the channels over and over like so many other clans do. That drives me nuts.

True clans are normally based around a group of people that already know each other well and are the core of the group (if not the entire group).

IMO asking random people to join isn't really going to benefit you anymore than it already does, regardless of how you go about it. Even if you get people's attention, it's easy for them to feel detached from the whole thing and idle out after a few days or a week. It's a typical one-man-clan syndrome.

Your clan isn't active on forums? Boot them. Part of being in a clan is being active, and being informed. If they don't post on forums (depending on how much you use it to convey information), that's grounds to kick. If you're low on numbers, don't worry about it. Quality over quantity. If you have a strong small clan, you'll be WAY better off. Quality = content and self-promotion = more members.

Don't advertise a clan in random games imo you will get 99% ppl that don't even care or contribute. Maybe you will get a few members but its rare that they are loyal. If you don't have a group of friends to form the clan then you really shouldn't bother.

well how else will you get into a clan if most of your in real life friends don't play starcraft 2 or am I interpreting this wrong and I should've presumably already made some starcraft 2 friends that i can trust and build on in a clan?

If you have a bunch of friends that you notice are always active you could ask them if you wanted to make a clan. But making a clan without that is so hard and will most likely fail. Why not just join someone else's and save yourself some future headaches? :O

After leading an old clan that had a relatively strong SC2 division, I would say playing actively and messaging your opponent after games would probably be the simplest way to recruit more members. And the closer you become friends with that person, the higher chance of them contributing anything to the overall clan Another way was to actively participate in the community by playing in various tournaments listed on TeamLiquid or hosting your own. I know we managed to scrape a few couple members from the old weekly tournaments we managed to get up and running.

Please don't spam other clan channels, various chat channels, or even other clan websites. It's annoying to many and it gives off a bad impression.

As for your forum activity issue, it's an issue for many games. Most games out there have some self-implemented way to gain information that would otherwise be on forums (ex. Guild Wars had a guild status where you could update information, SC2 would be the clan channels where someone would be bound to tell you information, and even using Vent/TS/Skype is much simpler than forums for information) so it's always a struggle to get newer members active on forums, unfortunately.

I hope that helped in any way
