He has changed the way they are made. Such vision and hardwork cannot go without applause. somehow i've always thought of him as lenin. the question is, will tim cook be stalin and blow it? i've never been an apple fan and hated on them for most of my life, but all of that aside i've been a little sad over today knowing that steve jobs is dead. doesn't change what i feel about apple, but the man was a genius in what he set out to do.

Source for Pixar's history. Yeah he didn't create Pixar, but phrasing it like that sort of underplays his role in Pixar imo. Lucas sold it because it wasn't profitable and was just doing cute shorts. At the time 3d animation was mostly used for math/science modelling and small demo-like films. Make no mistake a large part(the majority imo) of Pixar's success was John Lasseter and company's determination and talent, but Jobs saved the company, brokered big deals, and allowed them the freedom to do their thing. Not to overexaggerate his role, but it does illustrate why so many people respect him. It shouldn't be because he's from Apple, and Apple is rich and "hip". It's his appreciation for design/creativity and willingness to take risks exhibited here again. So no, he didnt create Pixar, and it does suck that he gets so much publicity/hype when there are tons of hardworking/more influential people that don't, but I think "He just bought it." kind of oversimplifies his role in it's development. At least that's the the impression I got from the 'The Pixar Story' documentary (can find on youtube). It may very well be biased, who knows.
