INC: the vainest blog you've ever read in you're entire life.

You know when I was younger I always thought that being able to live a life with no responsibilities or obligations and do whatever I wanted to would be an amazing way to live.

Now that it's turned into a reality you really start to realize that your childhood dreams aren't nearly as amazing as you thought they would be.

Right now, I really just have nothing to do at all. I'm not going back to school until next year, I haven't yet been able to find a job, I'm getting increasingly disinterested in the things that used to entertain me, Virtually everyone I know is halfway across the country at university, and i basically haven't left my house in nearly a month except for the odd errand. Also to add salt to the wounds I got banned from league of legends for 2 weeks. (lol)

I've wanted to start trying to lose weight because it's something that I've neglected way way way way (way) too much, and since I love autumn in the next few weeks I'm going to try to start hiking several of the nearby parks more, the only problem is my sleep schedule is soooooo fucked up that I basically wind up sleeping until 4 PM most days.

And as a last resort, theres another option. My cousin had the same idea as me (we're the same age) and instead of letting him sit around and stagnate his parents decided to sign him up to go to Africa and help poor people in [insert impoverished african country here].

If I really can't find a job in the next few months (and it's not looking any better) I just might do it. Whether its for me or not is a whole different story, but IDK at this point.

I guess I just have to put my head to something and just do it. I don't know what yet, but I know I can't live like this for much longer. I mean, theres just nothing to do. I wake up at 3 pm, go downstairs and sit on reddit/teamliquid/etc. for 16+ hours, sleep at 6 am and do it again. Pretty much my entire life for the past 2 or so months.

I'm coming off extremely whiny i know lol. But i guess that's what a blog is for.

Did nothing interest you in school? Ever? I find that hard to believe.

If yes, maybe you should do it. Seriously. Hard work is actually extremely satisfying.
Try another route paperboy.

I did this from September of last year until... well it's finishing in about 2 weeks when I leave for University. The mind numbing boredom and lonliness are the worst of it.

Finding a job, or trying to in my case, was the biggest reliever of boredom throughout the day. It feels good to be in action looking for something, even if it doesn't work.
That's pretty much the main theme that I used, that actively pursuing something, regardless of what it was, was better than waking up at 2pm everyday and playing games until 4am. That is not healthy for either mind or body.

Edit: A club or hobby that you can sink your time into, preferably physical is also advisable.

Think about what people did before computers existed. There's a world full of interesting people and things out there and you're sitting in front of a screen every waking hour. If you're serious about motivating yourself, limiting your computer time or even selling the computer would be the best way to stop spending your time on forums. If you just can't do without a computer, have someone hold you accountable for the time you spend on it. If someone constantly asks you "How much time did you spend on the computer today?" it makes it a lot easier to make the better decision.

Going to Africa is not a bad idea - it'll open your eyes a little to the world. And on the plus side, you'll have someone you know who's going and it'll help acclimatise quite a bit.

Haha yeah, there's always that.

I mean, at the moment I an [I]glad I took the year off (glad and happy difference).

I think going in to college with absolutely no direction at all is something I didn't want to have to do. I suppose my situation right now is motivation to find exactly what I want to do in life by trying a shitton of new things.

I've been in a somewhat similar situation for almost a month now, since I got home from my eurotrip. I'm not working or studying, have a kinda fucked up sleeping schedule and only really go out a couple of times a week. Luckily I have a lot of hobbies that I really enjoy that I've spent my time on, and things are looking brighther in the near future with a full-time job most likely coming up.

Yeah women always make life.... interesting.

I suggest you go to college and just take a bunch of random classes and see what interests you. This is assuming there is a cheap community college nearby or something. I thought I was interested in some things until I actually studied them, and then I found other interests that I'm trying to make a career out of now.

I was in your shoes a few years ago. I actually joined the army because I had no idea wtf to do.

Going hiking and exercising sounds like one of those things that sounds great when you are in that motivated mood, but then when you wake up the next morning all you think about is "fuck that, I'll do it later."

Yea thats completely true. Only problem is i pretty much have to do something to drastically change my lifestyle or i'll probably wind up falling over from a heart attack at the age of 40. I'm usually lighthearted about it but the fact is I eat way too much bad food and it shows.

travel

go out, meet new people

grab a book and read it at a nearby starbucks

maybe even help out at a nearby community program or something

etc etc so many things you could do that doesn't involve you being at home 16+ hours a day

i have a similar problem but I am at university. nothing in school really interests me and I have no idea where to go with this after I finish college (in junior year atm) Kind of just go to classes and run through the motions every week never really accomplishing anything. Not sure where you start in this situation either.

Don't like drinking or partying which is all anyone ever seems to enjoy these days, so meeting people is pretty much impossible. if you try to approach anyone outside of a party setting these days they look at you like you're a creep.

Set goals.

What really irritates me is that I was like you and I hated myself and I really hate you. I hate you in the sense that you whine and muck up that puddle of undesirables in your life and don't do anything about it. You see everyone else just going out there and adding something worthwhile in their life and your caught in your room, dimmed lights and twiddling your thumbs knowing you have to do something, but don't do anything about it.

Just go man, do it. Get out. Your sleep schedule keeping you down? Here's a suggestion: Go to bed earlier.

You can talk all day about the things you could do, want to do and feel the need to do. But if you don't do it, you're just another sap who lived with the "could be"s in your life.

Go do it.

Yeah, and if you do that enough, you will start to realize that what you are doing isn't really worthwhile, and nothing you could ever do would negate death or give a fundamental meaning to existence.

Eventually, you realize that fulfillment in life doesn't come from events or actions or circumstances, but rather from relationships and your state of mind. Those who never realize this fact spend every minute of their life rushing from one place to another, constantly striving for something, constantly acting, seeking endless new experiences to try and fill the hole in themselves. In reality, they are substituting action for thought, they are preventing themselves from experiencing their own thoughts and awareness of existence. They are living the ideal television has created for them.

At some point, on a cruise ship in the Bahamas, I realized that what you are doing and where you are hardly matters. Once you have the basic needs met, what matters most in life is your mentality and the relationships you have with other people. Trying to hoard experiences will get you nowhere.

If you don't leave your house and do something, you can't meet people.
If you somehow know people and talk about things, you don't do anything and they'll soon find out you have nothing to contribute, offer or talk about.

State of mind is achieved by a combination of both relations, integration with society and in many parts of the world: contribution to the market and/or appreciation from your work.

The view of "relationships" can't even be acquired without leaving your own house. If you're going to argue that the 21st century's power of technology can have us talk online all the time, you are sorely mistaken on the concept of a wholesome relationship (friendly or more).
