I love burritos.

The first time I tried (non-TacoBell) burritos was when I was still at Toronto. One time while I was visiting the local Shopper's Drug Mart, I saw a sign in front of it about a place that sells supposedly very good food in a 2009 review. Curiosity got the best of me, so I found the place and went in.

I kind of knew what burritos were (I ate them at Taco Bell before, which were very distasteful), but I have not been to other Mexican fast-food before. As soon as I saw the menu i was completely overwhelmed since many ingredients were "in Spanish". Within five seconds I was getting ready to retreat, before the employee there said:

How are you doing today, sir?

Ah crap. Now I am trapped and I have to buy something now. After grunting a little, I decided to order a burrito of the cheapest option (no meat, just bean and cheese).

A lot of complications ensued. First was the choice of tortilla (I didn't know they were called tortilla before because I never pay attention to them in grocery stores). Then it was the choice of ingredients (a variety of different kinds of beans, sauces of varying spiciness, and what the hell is guacamole). The guy working there probably noticed that I had few experience with burritos before, so he offered me an "everything in it" option, which I complied.

A few minutes later I took a bite on the most amazing food I had ever eaten in many years. It was spicy (which I love), had bean and cheese (which I love), rice (I am Asian, so this one is self-explanatory), and guacamole tastes amazing. This place also toast their burritos; so the tortilla was nice and crispy. The everything-on-it option was excellent.

From that day on I was hooked. I would get a burrito from that place every Tuesdays and Thursdays (I would have eaten one everyday if it didn't have such high calories in it). It's too bad that I am not in Toronto anymore; none of the burrito places I find in Seattle make burritos that way (nor offer guacamole for free).

OK. The last picture is not an actual burrito; it is something peculiar I found when I used Google Image.

Good to hear people's experiences with decent restaurants in Toronto. I'll pass on the place for people to try.

dude I do that to my cat and he fuckin hates it.

OT- burritos are delicious.
Taco bell is garbage, my brother goes to a school with like 80% mexican immigrants and they hate it when people refer to taco bell as mexican food.
Always try to find genuine south american restaurants though, it makes a huge difference.

You should check out this yelp page. The best places that serve authentic Mexican are typically the hidden gems that aren't huge chains.

The last picture looks tastiest

You should also try wet burritos, which IMO are superior to dry burritos in taste:

Before today the only burritos i have ever had was Taco bell which was nasty, then they recently opened a Chipotle in my area, I went and it is amazing. The burrito you linked before the cat picture is of a burrito from "Chipotle" I believe.

wet burritos are burritos with more sauce and more grease, of course they taste better.

Puddles of grease are the things that I hate most about bad mexican food.

I generally prefer Tex-Mex over pure mexican, although an occasional chorizo or asada burrito is hard to argue with.

Living in Southern California, as I do, burritos are everywhere. Just this last Friday, I had a conversation with my office partner, who is of Mexican heritage, who pointed out that authentic burritos are quite small. He then jokingly referred to the much larger kind we often find in California or places farther North or East as "American burritos."

I think your photos mostly depict American burritos.

My first time did involve taco bell and a toilet seat. Took me good four years to muster up some courage and try that thing elsewere. I kind of like burritos now.

The first time you tried a burrito was in the last 2-3 years? Were you born yesterday?

The haters have never tasted authentic Mexican food. It's wonderful.
