Hi guys, I'm going to study in England from this month. However, it's difficult to get my PC + monitor abroad as much as I like them, so I guess I'll have to go with just a notebook. What I want to ask you is how I should play SC2 there - with a USB keyboard or using notebook's keyboard? I'm going to use a USB mouse for sure.

how is it hard. ive carried a monitor along with a shitload of electronics with me onboard a plane

Why are you asking us what you should use? YOU decide which is more suitable for you and which is more comfortable.
I'd go with unattached keyboard though.
And it's not that hard to travel with your PC+monitor. Of course it is much easier with a laptop.

I play on a 15 inch Macbook... MidMasters this season again, it's totally doable.

Well, I guess you're right, but I will probably have to use my notebook in university (computer science there) or just somewhere else. It's a lot more mobile and better regarding computer hardware than my PC. I'm unsure about keyboard though because I want to play 1vs1 on a good level as possible, but I'm not used to notebook's keyboard. I know this can be fixed by using that keyboard more, but is it enough to play to the fullest? That's why I asked.

I've been playing starcraft since broodwar on a shitty dell laptop and I'm a masters-level player. I find the keyboard pretty comfortable for playing and don't really understand all of the fuss about gaming keyboards, but that could just be me. I would say just use the laptop but I guess you should probably go with whatever is more comfortable.

I'n that case, definitely go for Laptop and if you want, take a monitor with you. Thats like carrying a hand luggage.
But as i said, if you feel comfortable with the laptop's keyboard and it is suitable for you, go for it. But i'd suggest you to play with unattached keyboard to be honest.
More ergonomic, "easier to use" since it's not that small/tight, and i'm pretty sure you'll gain more by using it anyway. Thats just my opinion though.

play on a laptop.
used to just use a mouse, then i got headphones, then headset, then keyboard...
i'd say that a usb keyboard is ok, but not really that much "better". I just got one because i was afraid i would ruin my 4 key from smashing it so much!

Laptop keyboards aren't the most durable things to mash on. USB all the way. Plus, if you destroy it in a fit of rage, you can get a new one!

If mechanical keyboard -> Bring keyboard. If regular keyboard -> use laptop keyboard.
It's not that great to use a separate keyboard, you'll have to play farther away and then that laptop screen becomes really small.

Its funny though...people which are not nearly GM ask the most questions about gear. Well let me tell you this: a GOOD player can reach highlevel master/GM without special gear.
Better save your money and spent some time playing improving your play...no offence.

I've got a MacBook Pro that I took for holiday with me and its keyboard was TERRIBLE to play games with, so I went out and just bought a cheap (around £5) keyboard that had keys that felt similar to the one at home and that was more enjoyable. It's up to your personal comfort, really.
