So this rant blog is not about Starcraft but about college/public transportation.
For those that don't know but here in Holland we have a student pass called OV-kaart (which is translated into Public Transportation card) which lets me travel with public transportation for free during the week. I have this card since my 1st year and I'm now in my 4th year.
So here's the story which pissed me off today.
Today some bus organisation was checking if anyone has not used the Public Transportation Card. Using the PTC you have to slip it by some machine that will register where and when you've checked in. The bus can hold aprox. 60 people I think. It was so full that everyone was pressed together.
Almost no one checks him/herself in with their PTC because half of us cannot check in because it's so crowded that we're not able to reach the machine since it's so crowded and everyone thought it was not obligated and there was never a mention to the students that you're obligated to use the PTC at bus stops. GUESS THEY WERE ALL FRIGGIN WRONG.
I and about 200 other people from various other busses in the morning got fined with 39 euros (55 dollars) for not activating our PTC when entering and exiting the bus.
Because there weren't many people available to fine the remaining busses only the 200 people in the first few busses got fined and the rest got lucky
I find it so stupid that I haven't been fined before in previous checks (or it's because the rule is new) and never have I been told that I was obligated to check in.
In the train I'm not obligated to check in but during the bus I am as I was told today. Which is the most bs reasoning I've ever heard. Why not make it consistent so that I also need to check myself in the train.
Because I was fined I had to wait 2.5 hours before I could go to my classes since there were so many people that got fined today at my school that I only managed to catch 1 hour of college.
I'd like to know if any other Dutch college student today got fined.
Now I know I have to check in at every bus stop I enter and leave and I don't need to do that for trains.
Oh well cheers to the Government for having such a wonderful system and communicating with the public so well.
