Thanks for the enjoyment/inspiration) My reasoning would be to pick something that doesn't disrupt or block out parts of the screen (so not lightning-based and poison is iffy) and something that gives you ideas to talk about. The druid's voice sounds like a pedophile, for example, which is why I generally don't play them. Also you definitely need to pick something you'll have fun playing because it comes through in the writing. The last bit would be to stick with it and keep writing. It takes a lot of time and effort, even to just put a few pictures with silly captions. | ||

The thing is though, Act 2 Mercs have auras at any level and the normal/nm auras are just so good. combined with the ability to weild an insight (infinite mana) or infinite (-resist) they are quite good. The main builds that dont use Act2 mercs, are ones that use an Act 1 merc with a faith runeword for fanatacism aura, the problem is that until they have faith, act 2 is just so much better | ||

It's definitely a viable alternative to an Act 2 merc, but only when you're at a high level, because Act 5 mercenaries have crap for HP until level 70+ | ||

Act1 archer ladies can be *somewhat* useful if you give them downright godly late-game gear. Act3 mercs can fill in a sorceress' missing elemental damage, but again, only if you give them crazy gear or have an item which gives the lower resist aura. Act2 merc is just so solid. Give him some simple metal armor and a simple polearm, and he'll be super durable, deal damage, AND his aura helps all your other minions. He's just plain better than the other mercs. | ||
