As my summer work is coming to an end in a few weeks, and I'll have about a month of nothing before classes start again (FOR THE LAST TIME THANK GOD 20 YEARS IS ENOUGH), I figured I'd use that spare time to plow through a bit of the backlog of XBox games that have been piling up on my shelf. I buy things I want to play when Amazon puts them on sale, whether I'm in the middle of another game or not, and since I've been fairly busy lately I've built up a pretty solid stack of unfinished crap. I'll be tackling the following at some point:
Bulletstorm Borderlands (about 30% done) Deadly Premonition Dragon Age: Origins (about 70% done) Dragon Age 2 Fable III (about 50% done) LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (don't judge...it was cheap, and I enjoyed the books, and the LEGO games are usually pretty solid GET OFF MY CASE) Record of Agarest War
I'd also like to pick up Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (LOVED the first two) and LA Noire eventually, and Batman: Arkham City comes out soonish...so much to do!
What single-player games have you all been enjoying recently? Anything you'd list as a must-play experience? Am I going to be wildly disappointed by anything I have in my queue?

I've been playing Elder Scrolls Morrowind and Oblivion recently, I can not wait for Skyrim

I had Morrowind, and I borrowed Oblivion for a bit. I just can't get into that style of RPG. I have Fallout 3, too, and I never really got anywhere. TOO MUCH CHOICE! I get distracted too easily without a bit more direction. I recognize that everyone on the planet thinks Fallout is basically the greatest thing ever, but I just don't...get it. Diff'rent strokes and all that, I guess.
I've heard pretty good things about Skyrim, though. Hope it lives up to your expectations!

Have you played the Mass Effect games? I've been replaying them recently as my net went down and it's rekindled my love for the series. I assume from your Dragon Age games, you may have played them, but its always good to check
Is there any particular genre or setting in games you'd prefer to avoid?

You should try out LA noire. It's a really long and good game for the price compared to other popular games on the market. It's one of the only games that are worth beating in the recent releases.

Arent you that kid that played guitar hero pretty well?
Hmm, I love that mass effect games and fallout games are pretty good experiences.

I just bought FF IX from the PSN and playing through it again, <3 the music.

Yeah. I've thoroughly thrashed both MEs, and I'm so excited for the third one I can't stand it.
As for genres I'm not a huge fan of, contrary to what the list might suggest, I'm not the biggest fan of FPS games. Since I don't really do multiplayer on console games, they tend to be short and bland. The FPS I do have had some quirk going for them that I found interesting in spite of the fact that I don't normally care for FPSs.

I mean, I'm not terrible at GH, but I'm certainly not good enough at it to have gained notoriety even among people I know, let alone strangers haha.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about it so far, and it seems like a pretty unique game. I'm pumped about freeing up enough time to give it a thorough going-over.

I honestly wish I'd never gotten rid of my PSX. There were SO many good games. Holy nostalgia...
FF VII/VIII/IX Legend of Dragoon Harvest Moon (I f*cking love this series, weird as it is)
I played these for HOURS when I was younger. Good times....
