Hi everybody,
I'm in trouble. My girlfriend just finished Bayonetta for the 4th time this week and I can't find any other game to occupy her while I play SC2. I'm therefore searching for a game including those criteria : - No motion capture device used - Fast paced - Little to no «exploration», more actual gameplay - Stylish - Good replay value
I got every video game console imaginable, so any advice will be great. I'm thinking of Vanquish and Metroid Other M but she isn't fond of futuristic games. She tried and rejected Madworld, No more Heroes Wii, Okami Wii, Super Meat Boy, a bunch of shmups (Mushihime Sama Futari, TriggerHeart Excellica,...), Gears of Wars, Dead space, PoP Wii, Metroid Prime 3.
She doesn't care of graphisms, but a console with a HDMI, component or VGA output would be great as it's to play on an HD TV.
Thank you very much for your help !!!

Mmmm the Ninja Gaiden games perhaps? I always enjoyed them, they are hard action games a bit similar to Bayonetta.
|
Devil may Cry 4 is almost identical to Bayonetta with different characters if I'm remembering correctly. I would definitely give that a try.
|
God of War? Mario Galaxy?
|
Easy. Mass Effect 2! Do ittt!
|
Hey, I know you said she isnt into futuristic games/ all action, but Mass Effect 2 is a really fun game; albeit unchallenging, but it had a great replay value for me. It might make her play the shitty Mass Effect 1 too, just to get more content. It is kinda explorer though; Same with Dragon Age (although I fucking hated that game).

Teach her Starcraft and pwn 2on2s.
|
Does she like long games? Cause KOTOR is really long and an amazing game to occupy someone with! but the problem is it has a lot of story line in it which would knock out the face paced and little to no <<exploration>>.....just an idea for a long game with good replay value

Definitely DMC series, since it's the same creator and it's the same over-the-top action style. (I mean, you get points for "style," not just combos.) And the music definitely sticks with you, like in Bayonetta. There's 4 so that should keep her entertained for a while.

Break up with her. It isn't acceptable to reject Okami.
Bioshock 2 for me though. :3

Oh yes, I agree on this. Give her Metro2033

Devil May Cry (series) the more recent ones Ninja Gaiden (series) the more recent ones Viewtiful Joe 1 or 2 Muramasa: The Demon Blade Castlevania Symphony Of The Night Dante's Inferno
Other ones that might work:
Star Wars Battlefront 2? Braid ? Batman: Arkham Asylum ?
|
I know in blogs like these, somebody always says it
But up until you said console, Starcraft 2 fit the bill perfectly. But it doesn't stop you from plugging it into a PC ha
Otherwise action/adventure games like DMC, GoW, Onimusha, the new Castlevania?

I'll try Mario Galaxy but doesn't it imply shaking the Wiimotea lot ? She really hates all those imprecise things (she almost didn't play Bayonetta because the evade is on a trigger and not a button...)

Bioshock 2 for me though. :3 It's Okami Wii, it's pretty darn unplayable unfortunatly. She liked it but the Wiimote makes completly unplayable. I'll try to grab it on PS2.

Tried DMC, she doesn't like Dante so she won't play it XD The gameplay also lacks strong evades options to her, too straightforward. VJ already done, Muramasa also, all the 2D Castlevania's as well (we're pretty decent speedrunners on it :p), Braid as well. Is Batman AA really good ? Or is it mainly the ambiance and storytelling that make it good ?
|
I tested Batman AA for a year when I was a Q&A tester. It's very fun due to its ambiance, flexibility in engaging your enemies and combinations. You can play it stealth or play it head-on combat.
I liked it a lot~
|
Demon's Souls might work as well.
Assassin's Creed series (too much exploration)?
Now I'm all out of ideas. :/ I havn't played AA, so can't comment on it. It is on my to play list, I'll get around to it sooner or later.

I really enjoyed Prototype, the pace was great.

Any of the CoD series is good, don't listen to all the PC fanboys here. Gears of War is good, Idk why she rejected it

This, its by the same team and its really fun, although the story is meh and the dialogs are cheesy.
|
I haven't played it myself, but Wet sort of fits your description. Except I don't know how much replay value it has.

I personally disliked it. Just felt like you played a shooter with 100 kg of armour on slowing everything down.

Darksiders was pretty sweet and in the same vein as Bayonetta/the other games mentioned in this thread.
|
Dante's Inferno, Assasin's Creed 2 and Ninja Gaiden 2.
|
Demon's souls is a great game, but it's hardly "fast-paced".
|
"Wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up, and smell the ashes." (See what I did there?)

If you want>
- No motion capture device used - Fast paced - Little to no «exploration», more actual gameplay - Stylish - Good replay value
Then the answer is Quake, as simple as that. Fastest gamepace, all 100% gameplay no bullshit, massive replay value, style in spades due to learning curve and movement acrobatics.
|
The Dynasty Warriors series. It's pretty hit or miss though.
|
vanquish is amazing if you like shooters. it's the most intense shooter I've played the last few years.
|
I don't get it, you play starcraft 2 while your girlfriend plays a different game? Why don't you just play a game together or do you not like the same games?
|
God Hand. Definitely God Hand.

I'd have to agree with Quake, it's really fun to play through and its really fast paced, it has good replay value because you will know what to do. If you're a speedrunner then seeing how fast you can beat a level/game is fun.
(Talking about the older quake that is, didnt like 4)

Yeah maybe try Darksiders although if she didn't like GoW she may not like it--I feel like it's a cross of GoW and Zelda.
Or maybe Infamous? May be a bit story-heavy though. Sounds like she likes really fast-paced, mobility-emphatic gameplay though so why not just have her try to get good at a fighting game? BlazBlue or something.

God Hand is great indeed, though simplistic (in a good way IMHO). Somebody also suggested Viewtiful Joe 1-2. Those games and Okami are not that similar at all, but they were all by the same Capcom studio (Clover). Okami was actually my least favorite of all of them. There's a lot of exploration there, which is of course counter to the criteria.

you can get her to play League of Legends. I think a lot of girls like playing this a lot because it's sort of cutesy and not that hard to play.

Try some of the games in the Prince of Persia series.
