Being judged purely upon your physical appearance as a girl isn't exactly fun. However, (speaking from an experience here on TL and irl) getting told you're part of the ugly bitch squad is definitely worse than being told you're smoking hot. Guys who'd dismiss a girl (as a friend) purely because she isn't 'smoking hot' aren't worth knowing anyway ^_^.

Agreed so I dont put it in the OP

Of course the girls can open the doors themselves, but who am I to change the rules of THAT game

Yes.

If you take a job you aren't qualified for than you better prepare to be yelled at.

Well what are you gonna do about it? Not watch the NASL? LOL

There are a bunch of nerds just raging because of Lindsey for her incompetence. What is her punishment? She gets paid and she gets a shit-ton of publicity. If anything, she is probably laughing her ass off at you guys.

This is no white-knighting , trying to protect the poor girl.

What the hell is the difference? Suddenly, everyone else is sexist because they are complaining that the NASL hired someone clearly incompetent.

First of all, she doesn't need your protection. Just because she is a girl doesn't mean that she needs your protection. You are the one being sexist here, protecting here just because she is a girl in e-sports.

Second of all, no you won't get to meet her and she won't give you a kiss just because you protected her on the forums. She honestly probably doesn't give a hoot what a bunch of internet dwellers think of her, so whatever actions you and others take are meaningless.

Third of all, if it was a fat guy who sucked at interviewing, you probably would be in the crowd of people raging their asses off. In this case, you just saw a girl and donned your virtual white knight armor. You also probably wouldn't write a blog post protecting a fat guy interviewer who didn't know anything about StarCraft.

This Lindsey situation is really funny. Both the haters and the lovers produce absolutely hilarious results.

Well possibly friend leading to more in that case I guess. I'm refering mainly to the type of person who'd dismiss a girl off hand/treat her rudely purely based upon what she looks like.

If you're ragging on this girl, then you probably have never done anything important in your life.

This is what you might call an 'opportunity' for her. She was given the chance and she goes in and gives it a shot. You don't say 'oh noes, I can't represent the community' or 'waah, this is hard, I quit'. You keep plugging away until you die or get fired.

Its pretty sad how mean people are being to her about this. They are even putting their hate on her facebook profile. Its just showing why SC2 will never be mainstream. People are just too immature IMO.

If people don't extend their standards for what they allow in what they watch, like having a model be an interviewer and try to do her best, then its just showing what I said above ( SC2 won't be mainstream ).

Yes, that would be very dickish. Though I do think it's completely OK to dismiss a girl based on her milkshake flavor preference.

I said that critizising is okay dude, of course you may complain, the point is HOW you do it.
See I wrote that second sentence because I didnt want to be misunderstood. I'm not sure wether you didn't read correctly or you misunderstand on purpose so you have a reason to rage. I dislike all the personal attacking, I argued against that when people where flaming other casters, yes even male OMG. Only thing different now is me writing a blog, which has nothing to do with Lindsey but rather with me searching for something to keep me awake. I'm not interested in impressing Lindsey whatsoever, you're wrong again.

1) Other than the fact that she obviously got the job because she is good looking (what else does she have?) I don't care what she looks like. I mean, it would have been nice if they had given someone a shot who is interesting or funny or is interested in Starcraft, but whatever.

2) The interviews were funny. No, they were hilarious. They had me crying with laughter sitting in front of my computer. Responding to every answer with "excellent!", randomly asking "do you play chess?, i play chess...", "how long having you been doing starcraft?"....and many many more.

3) I agree with the above post. Women don't need protecting. The fact that a pretty face brings out the caveman instinct is genetically ingrained in every man, but that doesn't mean that you should respond to it.

4) She is a model. Do you think that she looks that good by accident? No, you have to work at it to look that good. Recognising that we are sexual beings, but still treating women with respect is part of being a well rounded person. The fact that her looks seems to be her main defining asset isn't our fault.

You are making a mountain out of a molehill. She doesn't give a f*ck about Starcraft and we won't see her at any more events in the future, so get over it.

Usually agree, when people say "girl X is so hot" then add like 10 seconds like "and i guess she's good at this", it kind of undermines whatever they put effort into, assuming they put effort into anything.

In this case, I haven't seen the negative comments or the other interviews, but pretty much the only thing she talks about is her modeling career and where to check it out, and she doesn't mention starcraft at all. So I think she'd be ok with random people calling her hot.

Edit: so it's a sideline reporter issue? Well, it's fair to criticize NASL unless it works, and any such criticisms shouldn't be dealt or taken personally.

My point was how criticism should work, what is okay and what not.. but I guess very few people read the thing as a whole but rather small amounts. I wont be arguing anymore tonight as I'm too tired for that atm.

I think the pure fact that any criticisms or compliments is drawn on your looks more than anything else is equally bothersome.

If I called you ugly or if I called you gorgeous, it's both aspects of yourself that you aren't trying to show, prove or improve.

While I'm sure women enjoy being called gorgeous much like men like being called handsome, the circumstances are what truly matter. One's complimentary and the other is insulting, but they both say: "you have nothing worthwhile about your actions or service, but you're so (un)attractive that I felt compelled to say something".

I think trying to dissect the two is just petty and trivial when it boils down to the fact that the person really has nothing to say about what you are doing (and what matters for you).

she only mentioned it when asked about it. she was just interviewing random people in the crowd between games earlier and i think she did a rather good job of it. asked them questions like how long theyve been playing and asking them about their experience with the game like what they play and stuff. it was perfectly fine.

Second post, but he makes a strong point. If the story is true and NASL hired her knowing she had no experience in StarCraft, but did in interviewing and presentation, then that's their mishap and undermining the idea of StarCraft (thinking that anyone can do this).

However, if she's only prepping random spectators and just asking basic questions while maintaining a basic form of interest, I don't see any harm or problems.
