So summer started for me after the school year lasted for what seems like forever, but it sure as hell isn't what I had expected.
Some people may have read my thread on summer school. The bad news is that they denied my pleads for leeway even though I aced the Regents exam, indicating that I had a better understanding of the subject than most kids. The good news about that is that I was allowed to take credit redemption courses online. So there's that.
But even with online courses occupying a little of my time, I am so god damn bored. Most of the kids I'm friends with have jobs. I'm personally jobless atm (technically not because I do shit online that makes me a lot of money) so while they're working, I'm pretty much just sitting around in my house doing jack shit. I've been thinking about taking up running or biking to get in shape (I'm not fat or anything, it's solely so I'd get "cut" if you know what I mean by that (more pronounced muscles)) but there's a stigma attached to running and bicycling in my town and I really don't feel like getting egged, splashed by rainwater, or laughed at any time this summer. Therefore, this means I'd have to run and bike in the morning. I could probably get a friend to run/bike with me, but I am unwilling to give up my private, solitary time at night. My "night life" is something I cherish because it's pretty much the one time in the day I can experience true privacy actually hear myself think and do whatever I want (inb4 fapping jokes) without parents breathing down my neck. My parents and I have a tenuous relationship, I don't like talking to them at all. I really rarely interact with my family and I don't plan on it in the future. Taking on running or biking means I'd lose the lifestyle I've gotten used to and love.
Getting a girlfriend is also proving to be challenging as I haven't really spoken to girls since my failed courtship of this girl when I was 13. Long story short, we both told each other we had feelings for each other, but she wanted to be friends first. We were really close for a year and I suggested that we do something together, as in 1 on 1 without her friends in the way (she rarely talked to my friends, opposite me to hers). Basically, the morning of the "date" I guess you could say, she said she didn't think it'd work out but she wanted to stay friends. Being the idiot that I was, I stopped talking to her and her friends. Now that I look back to it, I could've handled that a lot better and gotten myself out of the friendzone. It's a shame too, because she was probably the first person I could call my "best friend", a title that I've never given anyone before because we could talk about anything and have it not be awkward and that's pretty tough because I'm an awkward guy IRL, or at least that's what my friends tell me. I'd like to get a girlfriend though, but the problem is where to look and how to approach her. I'm not exactly popular amongst the girls in my town because I'm a geek honestly and I'm picky. I've been wanting to take a trip to New York City (I live not too far from it.) with my friends for a while for this purpose but they are usually short on funds or their parents won't let them.
I don't have even have much motivation to play Starcraft anymore because I get easily frustrated nowadays and get fatigued after long matches (particularly PvT) Additionally, I feel like I've hit a skill wall and I don't know what to improve on so I can get into Platinum (Goal is Diamond by September). I've been playing against plats for probably 2 months now and I get tilted when I'm about to face the better players. The times that I do face the "favored" players, I always choke under the pressure.
Welp, that's my rant. If you've made it this far, thanks. Just feels good to get it out.

But seriously, I was in silver and all I did was remember to keep my resources down, go bio every game, build supply depots, upgrade my units as fast as possible, get medivacs, stim, win the game, get promoted to platinum. EZ. That is seriously all you have to do to get promoted to plat. Keep it simple and most importantly, have fun!

Just be good at Starcraft, and all those other problems will melt away  .
What league are you in? Silver? Just work on your basic macro which is building Probes, Pylons, and production facilities. I know you must have heard of this before, and I know you may be sick of hearing it, but I tell you, it helps A LOT.
I am always glad when I face a favored player, as I consider it an opportunity to get more ladder points and improve my MMR with little lost if I lose the game.

Take it from someone who has been running for 15 years out in public - you won't get made fun of. lol. It's nothing to look down on....It may even help you get a girlfriend - and could get you more involved with activities at school (XC/track/whatever).

i think you are trying to make excuses for yourself, i've never heard of a place where drunk drivers are so rampant that you can't be on the street after dark. maybe there is a running trail or a park in your area that you could run at?
also, i dunno if you didn't tell because it's illegal or something, but what do you do online that makes you tons of money?

Also on the GF department. I am a pretty awkward guy as well but only recently broke up with my girlfriend after 2+ years and she was a great girl. I think the best way to geta GF is to first get to know her. Most relationships start at work/school or through mutual friends. I met my ex when I moved to a new house and we started cycling home together from school. We were in the same year but hadn't really spoken to eachother before this. After a while things just clicked and she asked me out to go watch a movie (I was really shy back then so she asking me helped a lot ).
If you are "searching" for a GF they will smell your desperation (girls are like that ) and they won't be attracted to you. If you go to bars and clubs you might be able to pick up a girl but chances are slim and the chance that it will be a good relationship even slimmer. It's best to get to know a girl first and then make a move (just ask her out, the important part is to let her know you are interested if she isn't interested no harm done).
My advice would be to stop actively looking for a gf and instead just spend more time with people in general. When you meet someone you like don't do stupid stuff like stalking her or doing everything to please her but just straight up let her know your interested and ask her out. Also be more confident of yourself, don't be arrogant or "cool" but just confident, humble (but not too humble) and honest.

Well, there is a track at the local high school but the field that the track surrounds is a notorious drinking spot for the street urchins of my school.

My town is strange like that. The kids are extremely obnoxious. I might do what Jinro said though and run at 3 am before I go to bed. Why I don't do that already is not that my neighborhood is unsafe (NYC suburbs), it's more of a parent thing. And paranoia. I hate the dark and my overactive imagination sees things that aren't there. Probably a consequence of watching the news a lot when I was little lol

If you honestly don't even have the balls to run during the day, I don't see how you can get over any other confidence issue you're having (sc2,gf). I doubt these "kids" will beat your face in with lead pipes, if they catch you jogging.
You should stop worrying what other people think, especially when it interferes with something you want to do. Before you make any excuses, think about them. Are they actually impossible obstacles?

Well, I enrolled in an online precalc course today so I can take AP Calc AB next year, so there's something.
Might hire someone to make me a running schedule (PM me if you want to make some easy money? ) because I just want to get into the sport as fast as possible. I retained most of what I read about safely running and training so I can skip that. I'll probably post another blog about running some other time
Next steps are to fix up my fricken desk to optimize my Starcraft playing experience, complete my new build, and to do the AP summer assignments.

Here's my advice: Get a job. Doesn't matter where, just as long as your out there interacting with people on a day-to-day basis. In my experience, waiter/bar work is the best for this - learning about food and alcohol is great, and ladies love a barmen.
