SF has strange weather. Isn't it true that summer is typically colder than winter there?

I don't live in San Fran proper, but the city limits are about forty minutes away from my house. I've been there enough to say that the temperature is oddly consistent throughout the year, which is probably due to it being a coastal city. According to Wikipedia, though, SF has the coldest daily mean, maximum, and minimum temperatures for June through August (compared to the other major American cities), so that belief isn't unfounded. Every time I've gone, though, it's been either mildly warm or fairly cool.

Here's a temperature chart for the city throughout the year.

Oh that's interesting, thanks. It must just be a myth then.

Well, the reason SF summers are considered cold is that, relative to what you'd expect given the temperate winters, they are; it remains misty/foggy not just because it's a coastal city, but because it's a coastal city that's on the tip of a peninsula, so the water zerglings get a great surround on it for maximum TRPS (theromregulation per second).

Uhh... It might also be because our winter was rather hot this year. Weather around here has been crazy throughout 2011. But come on, IMO the weather around here will often give you the finger. I remember rain being so bad during a winter break (a couple years ago) that Bart had to shut down a couple stations

Yeah, we have ~15 summer days / year with temp above 25C (75F). I'm not feeling your pain.

Edit: Is the car OK?

The Bay Area had its own record precipitation in the month of June, the wettest day ever recorded between June and September so far for the area. If that is serious, moving to the South or the East coast is horror for those folks.

There's a difference between a rainstorm in the desert and a rainstorm in the Northeast; during one of those you're wearing a raincoat, and during the other you're wearing shorts and sandals (and may have left your car window down).

Yeah it's fine, the insides of the door and edges of the seats just got wet, and most of that is just plastic. It's been through worse before. -.-

I'm in Fresno, CA and we had rain last night too. Earlier in the month we had a couple inches of rain over a week(our normal is ten inches over 12 months.) Normally our average for June is something like 95 degrees and it was in the mid 100's last week. Odd yet wonderful! :D
